There Goes The Season!

So the Raps lost again. And...deflated.

(I don't overreact at all)

* * *

Sometimes, errrr, most times, I daydream too much. What happens when fantasy becomes all too real?

Sometimes, it's not what you think and it actually turns out crappy and you're left feeling disgusted.

Which is why living in the reality world is much better for everyone involved.

(What the crap am I babbling about? Man I'm tired...I better sleep)

It's Just One Game

But man, if the Raps play like the way they did yesterday, two things would be certain:

1. I'm going to have a heart attack quarter by quarter
2. They would be 82-0 (perceptive, I know)

Sorry Bubba, the season will be done in, ummm...7 months or so

It's Rapture Time Again

So tonight is the season-opener for the Raps, and marks my 15th year in a row I've been addicted to them.

Sure they're gonna lose, but I'm a ride or die dude.

One catch: I'm gonna watch them after I take my weekly walk with Rozzymaboo

H1N1 PUNCH

So I gots myself the H1N1 flu shot today.

Wow...When Work Sucks...

...sometimes it really sucks. I hope I'm jumping to conclusions here, but if the person whom I think is taking my partner's mat leave is indeed that person, then CRAP.

I need to win the lottery or something

Yum Yum Dim Sum With Some Chinese Drama

Met up with Kiran, Aly, Trannifer and Mikey at Sun Sun Dim Sum, where we had an MSGrrrrrreat time.

Afterwards, we went into one of the shops there because Sharon wanted to buy flip flops for our house for guests. While there, all of a sudden there was this loud screaming; we looked up and saw this 80+ year old man screaming at the lady owner at the top of his lungs. Oh, and he wasn't screaming in Chinese...he was screaming in Engrish. "F$#$% YOU YOU STUPID B$#@! YOU ARE A F@$%#$ STUPID B$@#^#$%!!! GO CALL THE POLICE! ARE YOU SCARED YOU STUPID F@#$%^$# B%$#@^?!?" He then proceeded to almost hit her, but one of the guys there was restraining him. He was apparently really upset he couldn't get a refund. The lady started screaming back at him, "YOU ARE A DIRTY MAN WITH A DIRTY MOUTH!"

At no point did it occur to me that I should've videotaped this incident with my cell phone, because the sheer entertainment of it is something I won't forget. Of course Sharon wanted to leave, but how the hell could I walk out on that? Eventually, the owners gave him a new product and he left. It was quite, quite awkward in the store afterwards with all the other customers (obviously), but I was still left entertained.

So anyway, we went to Canadian Tire afterwards to buy some stuff (fire extinguisher for the kitchen and I finally got myself a cheap Santoku Knife) and then to Dixie Mall where we bought, well...nothing much (as an aside, I didn't realize how ghetto that mall was. Have you seen the people who shop there? And then I realized, wait, that means we're ghetto too). Well I did get a big feedbag of kettle corn popcorn. Yup...ghetto

Rakeish

(Stop me if you've heard this before)

Nice thing living in an older neighbourhood: big, beautiful mature trees

What kind of sucks: raking four big bags of leaves, and realizing that half the leaves still haven't fallen yet

Just went to Swiss Chalet with the fam for Conrad's birthday. Holy crap, just realized that in a few weeks from now, a new member will be joining us. Can't wait for Gil and Marie's baby to arrive!

Funny How Life Goes

You meet people through fate and circumstances beyond your control. Some come, most go, either way they become some sort of influence on your life whether good or bad.

Why am I being contemplative right now?

Perhaps because I'm gay. Not in the homosexual way, but just gay.

Gotta stop daydreaming...

Is It The Pig Flu?

Muscles sore, fatigue, slight cough...wouldn't be surprised.

Or maybe I'm just really tired and the soreness was as a result of working out and the cough due to something in my throat. I'm pretty sure it could be that as well.

Dang "check engine" light just went on. I wonder what it could mean

Overworked, Underpaid

Oh, you didn't think I was talking about me, did you? Please, if anything I'm Underworked, Overpaid.

I was talking about my wife. I feel so bad for her...she works so many hours. For instance, she is currently on her way up to Kincardine because she has a program there early tomorrow morning. I mean, sure, it lets me be a "bachelor", but it sucks when it's at her expense.

We did, however, take advantage of one thing from her work: since it's considered she's traveling, she was able to buy us dinner on their expense. Mucho-Burrito-Score!

I'm Not Good At Naps

So for one reason or another, I took a 38 minute nap this afternoon. I woke up in a daze, groggy, stanky breath, arm numb, feeling gross because I was still in work clothes.

And then I remembered why I'm not good at taking naps anymore.

I am a little disconcerted though that my ability to go with little sleep (5-6 hrs./night) may be diminishing as I get older. But I think it's all in my head, despite all the yawning and general feeling of lethargy.

It may have something to do with the fact that it's still dark at 7:30am, but the good ol' Canadian winters are a coming. Damn SADD...

Rakeish

Know what I find taxing sometimes about owning a home (aside from the actual property taxes)? Raking leaves. It seems all so...futile. Much like shovelling.

Mexxed Out

Looks like I went a shopping again, but I'm gonna blame this one on Melodie (as I always have to find a scapegoat).

Was bored, so I called my go-to (as Argay is in Montreal). We were supposed to go to PacMall, but went to Eastgate instead (arteries clogged as a result of Shrimp in Lobster Sauce on fried noodles). Mel was saying she wanted to look for computer speakers, so we ended up at Winners (of course).

Bought shoes there. So I figured, "hey, let's go to Dixie Mall!" While there, we went to the Mexx Outlet, and I found three blazers at $19.99 each (regular prices: $229.00, $129.00, $129.00). Score! But now I have to get the sleeves shortened at almost the same price as the blazers (damn short, stumpy limbs).

So after feeling bad I spent all sorts of money, I do what I always do afterwards: tried to be productive when I got home. So, I cleaned my car, caulked the laundry tub and declogged the bathtub (hair + old shampoo + old soap scum = all sorts of horrible smells).

Now then, I will continue watching "Zack and Miri Make A Porno" (which, like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is already quite funny)

That's Wii-eak

So I went to my parents house yesterday, and found out they got a Wii. Man, even they have one? We did have one (briefly, for 1 day and it wasn't even taken out of the box), but our bank account thought the better of it.

Then I found out why my parents got one: for Wii Fit. Good first start. The problem though? They haven't actually gotten the Wii Fit yet, and they've had the Wii for a while now. Very typical of my parents

Window Installer I'm Not

After spending a day installing the garage window (thanks to some miraculous weather on my day off...last day off of the year at that due to this whole H1N1 Crap. That's right, with a capital "C"), what did I learn?

-it's prolly better to have someone else install it
-or rather, it's prolly better to have someone else measure the damn window measurements to ensure that the window fits so that you don't have to make all these alterations
-wearing protective goggles is not overrated. Let's just say I was about 2 mm away from losing my left eye. No joke; I have a scar to prove it. And here I was thinking my glasses would do the trick. But seriously, I totally saw it coming, and then it happened. And why the hell does small metal fragments always seem to end up at or near the eyeball? wtf?
-everytime I think I got something down pat (as in fixing something), there's inevitably a little blip. For example, after thinking I measured the frame for the window correctly with enough space for expansion/contraction between it and the window itself, what happens? the top is snug (thereby I can't put any of that foam in-between it). Oh well, let's just really hope the glass doesn't crack
-oh, and why the hell do I always get hurt when I'm doing something like this? Banged my knee against the ladder pretty hard, the aforementioned eye-incident, and my thumb getting the brunt of a collision between it and a drill bit
-spray foam: says not to get it on your hands as it could get messy. My hands: got spray foam on it

Either than that, I'm not quite done yet; I still have to caulk around the outside. Hope the weather holds up tomorrow

Quite The Anniversary Knight

Cause we went to Medieval Times! (Get it? Clever, I know)

Luckily my wife really enjoyed the surprise. Couple of things I wondered while watching the show:

-how exactly do they recruit these guys that play the knights, and is growing your hair Fabio-style a prerequisite?
-how much do they get paid?
-was that black dude that played a Knight considered historically accurate?
-imagine how much better the atmosphere would've been if the arena wasn't only half-full?
-was that photographer who kept asking us to buy his crappy photos considered a Medieval Latino?
-when the horses were doing their tricks, did anyone else think that they looked like they were having seizures?
-do the people there like their jobs, or do they feel ridiculous/degraded play-acting?
-did I really just eat half a chicken?

Either than that, good times!

So When I Get My Own Dog...

...does this mean my weekly walks with Rozzymaboo will come to an end?

Nonsense! I'll just walk the two of them at the same time.

Mind you at the rate I'm going, Rozzy will be 9 years old?

(Sharon, I want a dog)

* * *

What says anniversary better than ordering in Pizza Hut? They should put a warning label on it though, cause the damn pizza will kill you. Do you know how oily it was? I couldn't wake up this morning because all that oil made me sluggish. Reminded me of, well, me, all those years ago. Ridonk!

But the anniversary ain't done yet: tomorrow comes the surprise portion of the celebration

Eating Like It's 1999

Crap, I ate way too much this weekend. Sure it was Thanksgiving, but this was just ridicurous.

Just to put it in perspective: I ate three turkey meals today alone. I think I'm going to fast this week and hit the gym/run. Ummm...yeah, let's see how well that goes

* * *

What says Thanksgiving better than putting up Christmas lights? Nothing, apparently, in our household

* * *

Found out Gord and Hannah are moving by the end of this year. Crappers...they were nice ones. We are helping them move already: we bought their old bikes.

Hope the new neighbours are just as nice

Window To Oh Crap

So I bought this window from the Ho Depot for my garage that I thought I could install myself. I think I can, but dammit, it's gonna take a whole lot of extra work to get it done.

Fargin-hargin...it's going to involve me reframing the entire opening for the window. So I had to go buy extra materials, make all these measurements (again), ponder and think how I'm going to actually go abouts doing it, etc. and now I can't actually get to it because we're going for Thanksgiving dinner at my parents place (well, a Chinese restaurant anyway; what says Thanksgiving better than Chinese food?).

I really hope it doesn't rain tomorrow

Thanks Happygiving!

So we whited it up last night for Thanksgiving with a few peeps: Mistie, Arfeli, Merv, Hershey and the baby Mateo. Had a stuffed turkey, veggies, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, freshly made multi-grain bread (with butter, of course), salad and an ice cream cake to boot. The only thing missing was macaroni and cheese, but you can't have it all.

We even had Beevy hang with us via Google video chat. I thought it was funny when Nina and Ryan came over and saw us doing that. Ryan must've thought, "wtf? is this how they party? With a computer? My girlfriend has the coolest friends." At least, that's what I was thinking he was thinking.

Good times!

Oh, and Argay: welcome to the club that I thought only BeeJ and I populated...LOL

(let's be honest here, I'm not that surprised that one of these days he'd eventually catch on that we're big jerks to him. I won't even try to defend my actions because it's not like I could say/do anything that would make it seem that I was anything but. He makes it easy with the way he acts, and quite frankly I'm not a bigger man to overlook it. I do feel bad that I hurt him, but what's done is done and the only thing I could do is try to go forward being more "nicer" if I ever see him again)

There Goes The Neighbour(hood...Well, Sorta)

So thus far we've been feeling pretty lucky having some pretty good neighbours. They are both retired and somewhat approachable; which can be both good and bad.

Good: they are always home. We (naively) feel like our house is constantly being "watched after". One of them approached us about doing this fence replacement, which we jumped on (it's always good when your neighbours are willing to spend money to make the surroundings look better.

Bad: they are always home. Bad in the sense that at least one of them has "too much time to think".

Here's the gist: we had old landscaping rocks that we gave to one of them (think 85 x 20 lbs. rocks), as he said he was going to use them. Well, our fence thus far is 95% complete (bad weather makes it hard to finish up). I think he was expecting it done the day after the posts were dug (which is retarded). He also fought with the fence builders over stupidness because he felt like they were trying to rip us off (they weren't).

So seeing as how it's two weeks in to the fence build, we hypothesize that he is at home, impatient, and had too much time to think. To the point that he got so annoyed he threw all the landscaping rocks over the fence into my backyard.

Needless to say, I was quite pissed off when I got home and discovered this. I had to move all those rocks because this old stupid retard was prolly acting really childish and threw a hissy fit. wtf? We've been nothing but perfect neighbours to them. They should be so lucky.

So I was talking to the wife about it and how I was going to essentially be childish myself and make enemies with him. She told me, rather rationally, that thus far they have been good neighbours and that one incident like this shouldn't spoil it. Plus, we haven't exactly talked to him yet, so we don't know what his thought process was behind his stupidness. Damn logic.

Blah. If only we had neighbours who were like us (at least, that's what I would like to think). At least the other old guy is perfectly normal

* * *

The Doctors Mistie is coming to town. We're gonna have a traditional manga-cake Thanksgiving party tomorrow, complete with turkey, stuffing, gravy and bread. Dandy!

Let's Break Other People's Houses!

So I decided to take my very limited handyman skills and my tools (think Dr. Huxtable in the Cosby Show) to another person's house. In this case, it was Paresh, as he had caulking to do in his tub (he didn't know how to) and he needed a ceiling fan installed.

Six hours later, it was actually done. I really wanna do my kitchen now; I think the renovation bug is really back

Let's NBA!

It's the start...Raps ball is back! Well, pre-season anyway, but I hope it's not going to be a long season. So far, Reggie Evans is the new JYD and I'm liking his hustle.

Why are onions so harsh? Cutting them, I cry. Eating them raw, it's stingingly bitter. Only thing they're good for is sauteing them in butter or deep frying them with batter

I'm Physic

So I had this premonition this morning that I would be spraining my ankle pretty soon. I played basketball afterwards, and sort of tweaked the right ankle.

Then I just played my soccer game and not only sprained the same right ankle once, but twice (bringing it up to three sprains in one day). Argh.

Why can't I have a premonition that I am going to win the lottery?

My Father Is Funny Pt. 56

Talking about Joshua, our family friend going into University: "He looks like a Korean"

Me: "Why?"

Dad: "Because all his friends are Korean people"

(I wonder what my Dad would say he looks like if he hung out with Jamaican people)

Good Times With The Camara's

Went to Team Tabico's new place for dinner. Holy crap, can you say awesome-nice house? It's given me a few ideas for our house.

Oh, and he had lobster and crab and shrimp there. Hucking good

Working At Reality

Trying to quell the daydreaming for now, not being too successful.

And now, just found myself watching three hours of Forrest Gump. What a Friday!

How about living in reality?

Revelation: I altogether daydream too much. Must pay attention to life at hand

Rent A Dog

After just walking Rozzymaboo and watching Dragon's Den, I believe there's a business opportunity out there: renting dogs for those that would like to be dog owners but whose wives won't let them have one (not that I'm basing this idea for any specific reason or anything). Think of it as a reverse dog-walkers business where instead of the dog owner paying the dog walker, the dog walker pays the dog owner.

Mind you, the people paying for this service must be awfully lacking in logic and cohones to just bring a dog home even though his wife won't let him, but I'm sure there's a market out there for this.

Trannifer, I know you're going to read this, and since this idea is patent-pending, I don't think you can legally charge me yet. Besides, who else is going to walk your dog every Wednesday evening for free? (Wait a minute, that last sentence was kind of counterintuitive to the preceding paragraphs. Again, this business idea is for people lacking in logic. This is why I work for the Government and am not in business for money)

That Soccer Conundrum

So I started a new season of soccer today, and that whole "one is good, two is better" adage came into play. First of all, I scored a goal, which, really, is quite amazing to me (do you know how hard it is to score when you have no idea what you are doing?). Oh, it also helped that Frank, one of our star players, passed the ball perfect to me. I just stuck my foot out and luckily it went in.

But the conundrum part comes in when I should have scored another goal. I basically had the ball to myself and I shot it right at the goalkeeper.

Shouldn't I be happy I scored a goal, which quite frankly might not happen again this season? Why am I upset that I didn't score the other goal? Perhaps I'm a greedy person. Or maybe because the final score was 3-3 and if I scored that other goal we may have won.

Argh...why did I join soccer again?

It's Go Time?

It's go time.

Up and at 'em...let's go

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I Can't Do It...I Can't Do It...

...go back to work tomorrow, that is. This whole not-working thing is good times.

Back to reality. I have to convince myself that I'm refreshed and ready to go again

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Pencing

So right back at it I go...just took down the fence with my neighbour Ivan, so hopefully the fencing company could start tomorrow.

Oh, and it was plenty funny when I got a call from my wife this morning on my way to my parents house to pick up their van. Why? My lovely wife had locked herself out of the house. Awesome!

Friday, September 25, 2009

Well That Was Fun

I think out of all the vacations we've had this year, this may have been the funnest. The company was great and Vancouver is an awesome place. Just the feel of the city was nice.

I'm afraid it may have been an illusion, though, because the weather was pretty much immaculate while we were here. But whateves, I look forward to coming back one of these days.

Well whatever, I think (I hope) I'm refreshed again and ready to go back to the grind. It was yet again another trip of overeating (what vacations aren't?), but at least we counteracted it with a lot of walking and touring. Home (and jetlag) here we come!

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Grouse Grounded

So we had another fun-filled day. We first went to the Capilano Suspension bridge, where we were like Ewoks on the treetops. Oh, and the bridge itself was great. The look on BJ's face due to his "irrational fear of heights and bridges" was worth the price of admission alone.

We then went to Grouse Mountain, where we did the 3km. hike up the mountain (known as the Grouse Grind). Holy crap it was harsh! I sweated like when I did the 10km. run. Crazy! But at the same time it was a rush and was fun. And when we were up on the mountain, we had some awesome Beavertails and watched a lumberjack show. Sounds quite the homo, but man, I think I would like to be a lumberjack just so that I could have ripped bodies like theirs. WHATEVER, I KNOW, HOMO.

I was also driving around the city with Ivy's Mini Cooper...I would've totally did the Italian Job driving through the mountain but my two passengers (Sharon and BJ) would have possibly been the worst passengers to have while driving like that. Very nice car though.

Can't believe we're leaving tomorrow already. Time feels like it goes so slow here. How the heck am I going to go back to work mode?

But first, we're off to a Malaysian Restaurant right now

Shuttle To Sheattle

So we had a fun jaunt going down to Seattle to visit Corinna and Stef. Pike Street, that Space Needle thing and the outlet malls...good times. I vastly overate and I think my blood pressure will be feeling it.

We went to that great American institution as well: Tar-jey, where I continued the tradition of buying the thing that I always buy whenever I go to the US: Fruit of the Loom tighty whitey's. I'm set for a few years again!

Now to do some exercise on our last leg of this trip: Grouse and then to do some kayaking where Beevy was engaged.

So far I think this trip has been the funnest, if not the most stress-free of all the trips I went on this year. The West Coast is nice...I better not get too attached now. Mind you, if we did live here our "quality of life" would go a bit down as it's pretty pricey out here. But it's nice to visit!

West Coast Bike N' Bowl

Went for a jaunt on some rented bikes today through Stanley Park. Beautiful!

After dinner, we're gonna go bowling at their alley they have here at their condo.

This province is great...on par with PEI being the prettiest province in Canada. It really helps having friends who actually live here

Monday, September 21, 2009

VCBC

This place is beautiful! If I made three times as much money as I did now, I think I would buy an investment property here and come every so often when I could. Or at least (maybe) retire here. Who would have thought that Canada was so beautiful? (I did)

Went to Grenville Island on a cute little ferry, bought some Indian food for lunch (what says Vancouver better than butter chicken?), some groceries (had Mexican food for dinner), Native artwork, then a stroll around downtown Vancouver. Tomorrow we'll be doing the same I think.

Otherwise, so far it's a great "chill trip" (different than the gogogogogo trips we usually have) hanging out with Beevy. How the heck am I going to go back to work?

Who Needs Sleep?

So far, that's the theme of this trip. Mind you when you're part of a wedding and are going between Calgary and Vancouver, things like sleep will be foregone.

Not that I mind personally, but when the wifey gets involved in this, things are bound not to turn as well.

We just arrived in Vancouver after a great weekend (congrats Mistie!) of fun, food and catching up (wished my friends lived closer). Now we'll be here for the next four days frolicking in beautiful Vancouver. Well, let's see how beautiful it is in the daylight; but so far, so nice

The Year Of Vacations...Last Stop

Well, maybe. But off we go yet again!

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Westward Hoooooo

Off to Calgary we go in a few hours for Mistie's nups, then to VanBC to chill with Beevy.

Excited!

Window To My Wallet

Make that my wallet to a new window. I think I am going to have to replace the garage window before winter comes (and the Ho Depot is having a 15% off windows starting tomorrow). I think this is my one regret from when we got the windows replaced a few years ago: not getting this one done. I don't even remember the reasons why anymore.

Oh yeah, and I've never replaced a window before. This should be interesting.

You know what I just realized? I'm going to Alberta and BC on Friday. I haven't even thought about packing/what to bring/what to do there. I'm not even sure if I'm exciting.

Man, I don't even know what I'm thinking more than half the time anymore.

Alzheimer's?

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

MaRozAthon

That's what I call the super-walk I had with her today after dinner. I think we did a good 6km. And I also think she was quite tired out after the walk. It's nice to walk with a dog.

Oh yeah, so I think I turned 50 years old or something, because I'm totally into these walks after dinner. Why 50? Well do you know who I meet/see on my walks? 50 year olds!

But still, who knew they would be so soothing/stressfree? Mind you I'm not sure how it will go when the snow starts, but I would like to think I'll still be doing it.

* * *

I've also been into popcorn lately. And not the kind from the microwave; the real kind that I pop myself on the stovetop. Yummy!

Monday, September 14, 2009

Dammit Dejavu

So for one reason or another, I left my office today at 6:00pm. The phone calls just wouldn't stop!

Everytime I think I got it bad though, I just have to remember: it could be worse. Much worse

* * *

I think we're going to join one of those couples cooking class with Arfeli. I thought it was funny when Arvin said (to the effect), "man, I hope the food turns out good." So me, being as horribly clever as I am, said, "so you and Sharon will watch as Feli and I cook?" Oh thass rite, I went thurr

Kayaking

Excuse the terribly unoriginal title, but that's what I did today with noted adventurist Melodie at Lakefront Promenade. This:
Good times! I think I want a kayak now (after the dog, new kitchen, motorcycle, ping pong table, etc.)

I Forgot How To Hang Out

So yesterday, the wife went with Feli rock-climbing. I went to Argay's place for a haircut and to hangout.

I think it's been such a long time since I hung out with, well, anyone, my social skills eroded to the point it was borderline socially dysfunctional. We went for a car ride downtown, where my gawking and talking and whistling wasn't exactly subtle. Not embarrassing at all.

Oh yeah, we also walked around the clubbing district because I ate poutine. Wild!

I often said that if I was young, single and rich (in the sense having a well-paying job), I would have moved to downtown Toronto before finding my way to the suburbs. Oh, and if I drank alcohol too.

But...I'm old now. Kids anyone?
