Our Devirginizing NYE Party Experience

Will occur tomorrow. And what says New Years better than a Mexican/Carribean theme? I'm not sure!

Lots O' Things Left To Do

...before the new year. My it's gone by so fast. My life at this point compared to last year? Drastic change at the least

I Take Steaking Seriously

So it's been said here plenty of times how much I like steak. To find the "best steak" to me is a quest I take seriously. After some contemplating (as in, the past 28 seconds), I've decided to come up with this criteria:
1) Must be either a NY or T-Bone cut
2) Meat must be tender and not chewy; almost melt in your mouth
3) Medium-rare
4) Not break the bank (important because I cannot justify spending $50 on a cut of meat. I'm looking at your Ruth's Chris)
5) I have to try it at least twice, in case the first time required a mulligan. Unless the first time was so amazingly good, that a second time is not required.
Why do I bring this up? Well, I have carefully chosen my first "best steak." Almost surprisingly, the "best steak" happens to be from...East Side Mario's. Seriously. Here's the breakdown, according to the criteria above:
1) NY cut
2) Melted in my mouth
3) Bloody goodness
4) $20 with the fixin's
5) Second time trying it, in case the first time was a fluke. I mean, seriously, when you think of steak, you don't think of East Side Mario's
This is, of course, not set in stone. I will always be on the lookout for the best steak

Badda Boom Badda Finally

So our painting oddesey has finished...for now. But hey, at least it's done? Again...for now.
So, we'll celebrate by going to my favourite dirty franchise: East Side Mario's! Steak here I come...

Eck-Sess

So something I noticed about myself...I do things in excess (let's forget the obvious, that being the amount of food I eat...harhar). Case in point, ironing. I tend not to iron for a long while, then when I'm faced with doing it, I'll do it literally for 5 hours straight.
Why do I mention this? Well, the past four days I think I have painted a combined total of...38 hours. No, seriously. But, at least my wife was with me the whole time.
Next house we get? Yeah...no walls

Hey, she did get something:
-hedger
-paint
-uhhhh...lunch

Christmas Traditions: Old and New

Old: going to the Siervo house for Christmas and my Tita Alice making "specifically for me" the appetizer consisting of cream cheese, liver spread and cheddar cheese.
New: painting.
And now...the craziness of Boxing Day shopping tomorrow. Yikes

Merry Christmas Eve!

Off to Church and the fam jam tonight...then painting again tomorrow. It'll be a painting holiday!

Furious Balls

So Nina, Mel and Ron passed by, and we watched "Balls of Fury." Sometimes there are movies that are so bad that it's good, and I'm known to have enjoyed quite the stupid movies. I'm sorta disappointed though that this movie didn't even get to the status of "bad that it's good."
At least Maggie Q was nice to look at in the movie. I still want a ping pong table. Soon.

Stucco = Amour de Menstrual

So I was stuccoing the ceiling today. Aside from it being very messy, it also smelled. My wife said, "it smells like menstrual fluid."
I don't think I'll ever look (or smell) at stuccoing the same again.
Bluk.

Poser Time

So we got our soccer uniforms today, and much to my (gay) delight, it matches the cleats I bought a week ago. No doubt people on my team are going to think that I bought the cleats to match the jersey when really it was the other way around and coincidentally.

What makes it even worse is that undoubtedly I'm gonna be the worst guy on the team. But my motto is: make playing bad look good. Ooorite!

* * *

1.5 weeks off! Yee-uh!

* * *

1.5 weeks trying to finish the renoes! D'oh!

Okay Fine, Hustle Plan B

So today was a deadline for any of my workmates to join the team I'm currently on to, in my self-absorbed thoughts, "to help me out" (a 13 month "learning assignment" is what it's called when really it's a mat leave position). A certain PHI was supposed to join me, but the plans fell through.
So, my Supervisor was in a panic, and I guess I sorta was too. I saw my target (perhaps the only other PHI I would be comfortable working with) and started to, as the young kids say, hustle her. I was telling her all about the joys of working on my team.
And, to my delight, she seemed more interested than not.
I'm hoping this will turn out...

Let's Say I Was An NBA Player...

...and I was, you know, good...I would like my nickname to be DAGGERS
(yep, I'm a tard and the things I think when I win a game of basketball in the morning)

The Future...

...(Shop) will be spent trying to pay off the massive debt I incurred while buying my latest toys. Went to Future Shop and got a "good deal" (how good is it when it's crazy money?) thanks to an old baseball teamate/high school friend Carlos. But even though it's expensive, I still feel like I scored. So I'll just go and say it: score!

Snow Problem!

So the GTA's first snowfall of the year came and went, and I learned something great about my new neighbourhood: our roads get plowed early! I would like to say that it's a perk of living in Meadowvale and near Hazel, but that just might be in my head.
I also learned that it's pretty hard to plow in our cul-de-sacs, as they just don't leave the snow on the side of the road. In fact, they actually have to truck the snow out. I was quite flummoxed by that idea, for some reason, but at the same time I was mesmerized by the process. Maybe there is some substance to the accusations thrust upon me of being...strange

I Am Legend (In My Own Mind)

Watched it and thought, "eh...it's okay, nothing too blockbuster about it." Also didn't help that my wife thought I tricked her into watching it, as she didn't enjoy it too much (she of the not-so-appreciative-reception of scary flicks). I didn't know it was going to be like that, really.

Ma Baybay's Back

So after five days of being a bachelor, my wife is back from her sales meeting. It was quite the experience being a bachelor again...brings me back to...two months ago

Where Does The Day Go?

Seems like time is going by so fast -- with too much things to do. On top of that, we got our property tax bill for the year...yeah...maybe we should move to a smaller house...
On top of that, we got the electricity bill, the gas bill, the...woah, I sound like my Dad now

Why Bother Having A House?

Especially when you have spent more physical time at the office the past three days than actually at home? Okay, so this won't happen very often, but man-oh-man...this is nuts! I'm so not used to all this work. What the heck, am I in private industry or something?
Screw this! I'm claiming overtime for sure

Kerrrrazayyyyyy?!?

What the hell...when the heck was the last time I spent TWELVE FRIKIN' HOURS at work? I must think I'm some private sector employee.
I swear this reminds me of being a university student again, procrastinating with the best of them. Unfortunately, this is for money...sigh

So A New TV It Is!

Looks like we'll "have to" get a new TV that will fit our entertainment centre. While I'm somewhat excited about that prospect, I'm not excited about the debt it will incur. Oh well.
Oh yeah, and the family room is starting to come along...just a few more touch-ups, put up the shutters and get curtains, hook up the electronics, get a rug, ummm...okay, maybe not coming along that well

Maybe If I Drank Alcohol...

...I'd know the differences between Martinis?

So I made a mistake. Arvin invited us to go to a club today for Rich's birthday, and when he called the house, he told Sharon, "Devil's Martini." Knowing that Rich lives in Oakville, I thought the party was going to be at the club in Oakville called "Dirty Martini." Of course this confusion came to a head when we called Arvin and he said, "I'm in the lineup." We said we were too. Just that he was in Downtown Toronto, and we were in Oakville.
Thank goodness D. Martini's is no longer in business cause maybe my head would've exploded.
We ended up at Ron and Mel's house with Nina. At least the chocolate cake they made was awesome.

Determined

Gotta get out of my lazy funk...I'm gonna finish my work this weekend. I gotta. Dangit.

Operation Burgandy

It's a go...first coat down...five more to go

You Light Up My Life

My wife. However, it wasn't so bright going to that light fixture sale at the International Centre. The line-up was long, and if we actually decided to get something, we'd be in a 2 hour line-up just to pay.
I'm not going to that Umbra sale. I hate line-ups

Back Pain(t)s

Back pains are back, but I'll just attribute that to the fact I've been doing lots o' painting. The renos are starting to look like it's coming to fruition (or vegetablition). I sorta can't wait for it to be done; then we could actually invite people to our house.
I am sorta irked at myself that I didn't take the "before pics". Oh well, at least Sharon and myself will know the differences

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Oochie

Seriously, these backpains worry me. How the heck can I be hurting already? I'm not even 30 years old.
It may have something to do with the fact I played soccer today and was flinging my body all around. Much fun; perhaps the achey back was worth it.
Oh yeah, and my wiring project is coming along...all due to the fact I bought a new home theatre system. Christmas comes early for Jason!
And to top it off, I gots a day off tomorrow. Well, I'll be working on renos and "overtime" so it may not necessarily be considered a day off in these eyes.

Wired

In all senses...got my TV and speaker cables in the walls now which took me a long while, which in turn leaves me wired. I think.
I don't wanna work tomorrow. I have this deadline for a manual I have to finish, but I'm nowhere near halfway done nor nowhere near halfway motivated to finish it. This can't be good.

Pan's Labyrinth

Watched it and thought it was an interesting movie (and any movie that makes Sharon physically squirm is a bonus). If I were a lesser man, I'd say something like, "they're coming out with a sequel, and it's called Pot's Maze!"
If I were a lesser man...

Maybe It's Better To Stop Counting

The scores our basketball team loses by, that is. We got smoked again today and I scored a whopping ZERO points. Very disappointing...exactly how am I going to make it into the NBA at this rate?
