I'm Albertan, Who Are You?

So I'm here in the "Wild Rose Country" Province of Alberta, having a grand ol' time. We are doing the double date weekend thing with Dr. Sy and Dr. Kim, a couple who is blowing us to shame with their lovey-dovey-ness. Not that it's a competition or anything.

But anywho, so far we even went as far as British Columbia (Yoho National Park), Lake Louise, in Jasper right now and in Banff tomorrow. Driving here is (excuse the pun) a trip...all the mountains, lakes and fresh air is awesome. I can see why Sharon would want to live here; as for me, I'd love to visit it more, but live here? I'm still an Ontarian by heart. And if I do live here, I'd prolly get a heart-attack (two delicious steaks and counting...)

Kinda dumb on my part to state this trip was a "release from reality" and away from work, e-mail and internet. Obviously, I'm on a computer now and I already checked my work e-mail. Seriously, I gotta learn to let go of it.

Damn work.

But then again, when we get home, it's gonna yet be a hectic next couple of months/years/life, what with the wedding and house and all that. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Now What? Oh Right, The Whole Wedding Thing

So the day hath come and passed, we are now proud house owners:
Opening the door...to debt
Seconds later, "ka-thud!" went her head into the door. Well, not really
The way I answer the door everytime MTV Cribs comes knockin'
Quite exciting (and scary) times indeed. And just in case the above doesn't work out and Sharon somehow leaves the house to me, I guess I can make it a frat house:

Way to dispel those rumours there
Don't leave me Sharon, I love you.
* * *
Going to Alberta (Ablerta to those who find it funnier to say it that way. Like me.) for the long weekend. Can't wait.
And as I've incessantly told this to everyone: "we're so excited about our house, we went to another province the very next day!" Not so funny to me after saying it about 24 times on separate occasions.

Melting, 2007 Version Part 1

As per usual at this time of the year, I get all sorts of complainey due to the extreme heat and humidity. Today was especially harsh, cause I took my Dad's van to work and despite it being a relatively new vehicle, the air conditioner compressor is on the fritz. So vented air and windows down it turned out to be for me.

Yeah. I was dying. But whatever, I got our leather chairs for the kitchen table.

Now for the actual table top...
Oh yeah, tomorrow is going to be a big day in our lives. It's my last day with disposable income! Yay?

Lawyered

And now we wait for Thursday.
* * *
Went to the Firehall in Bronte with the workmates; fun times as usual. I have a feeling I'm not going to hear the end of it though at work. Argh.

Working Long Hours Is Good, Right?

Dear goodness I hope so because that's what I've been telling myself. The crappy part about it is that I'm not claiming overtime.
Also, it was hot again today. Damn hot. I hate this kind of weather. Global warming be damned.
Tomorrow we meet the lawyer. This truly has to be my last week...with disposable money. Oh who am I kidding? I'll be throwing away a lot of money in the future...

Yum Yum Sinigang

My Dad makes this great Filipino dish:
Filipinos always eat on their hardwood floors
He makes it really good; super sour and tender meat. This is one of the things I'll really miss when I move out. I can of course learn to cook it for myself, but I prefer the whole "food is ready and I don't have to prepare it" aspect of living here.
Speaking of which, my Dad asked me, "are you going to cook or eat out everyday when you move out?" And then I caught myself being all old and adult-like. I responded, "we'll cook of course...do you think I am made of money?" But I think his point being was that Sharon should learn how to cook. I agree. Definitely.
* * *
4 more days till mortgage time! I bought some chairs for the kitchen table today. So now we can proudly tell our guest that they are now able to sit at the kitchen table. The fact that we have a glass kitchen table base, chairs, but no actual glass table top is besides the point.

Slo-Pitched Out

And another slo-pitch tournament done, but this time it doesn't end with: "I'm not going to do this next year again, I'm getting too old."
This year in Waterloo was actually fun! While I complained about being the Captain, my team had me proud of them when we all tried our hardest to lose. Don't get me wrong, it's not like we purposely went out to lose, but when we lost, we lost with style. This included cheering like madmen and madwomen getting the final outs and getting crazy looks from the other teams wondering why we're so happy we lost.
And in the end? We were perfect -- 3 games played, 3 games lost.
Doesn't hurt too that all my team told me that I did a great job (applause whore in the house) and that the other Peel team also told me that other teams were saying that our team seemed the funnest.
The day before was also fun dancing like fools with my workmates. I'm happy with the workmates I have, but at the same time am worried about the ones I'm inviting to my wedding. Well, not really that worried, but our families might think they're retarded.
And finally: I slept with someone else either than Sharon last night. It was Tony, and luckily no spooning occured. I'm a cheater

Okay, Yes, I Get It, You're Old

So I went to this Symposium on Hygiene in Hamilton today, and the moderator totally reminded me of this guy:

"Whaaaaa?"
Professor Farnsworth from Futurama. He started the speakers late, and then blamed the following speakers after him for having all the rest of the speakers late. It was quite funny, really.
* * *
Picked up some furniture today; more furniture and other expensive stuff for the house to go. And really, I'm excited about it. Next phase of our lives are on the way!
* * *
Somewhat over the grumpiness from last night. I hate these extreme foul moods I get into every now and then. I better start growing up, and fast.

And It Don't Stop

Even if I want it to stop. Ah well.
Will be Hamilton tomorrow, Waterloo on Friday for the annual PHI slo-pitch tourney. When exactly was the last time Sharon and I spent time together? Can't wait till we get married

West Indian Food...

...in a Markham Chinese Mall. Makes perfect sense, obviously.
Even more surprising than me actually ordering it, is that it was really good. Go figure.
* * *
More furniture buying, and my awesome haggling skills saved us a whopping $22! Hey, better than nothing. I mean, sure, it prolly cost that much driving to Pickering, but that's besides the point.

Blah Day

Another one. I dunno what's wrong with me lately. Too many things on the mind. I think it's also possible I may be having one of those mid-life crisises kind of things.
Nothing a motorcycle can't fix.

I enjoy being a passenger

I hope Sharon doesn't hate me in the future. I would definitely be scared if I were marrying me. (Hey baby? Let's not talk about this post. I know you're reading this; as I've said before in one of my 900+ posts, I write this blog to remember what I was thinking on this day).

"Coasters Please"

Well, not really. But that's what could be said after Sharon and I continue our furniture buying ways. My baby found a good deal on a bunch of coffee and side tables for the house.
Our priority now is the TV. Okay, I lie, that's my priority. I suppose we'll need a kitchen and dining room table.

Fun Fun Fun

Working on Saturday's by myself is fun -- when you have a portable DVD player. It's not my fault working the crow lines is only as busy as people call in (which they really haven't). Not that I'm complaining or anything, because, I'm not.
I wish more overtime shifts were like this.

Uneven

Lately that's what my personality has been like. I get scared of it sometimes. Damn Filipino genetics.
* * *
Furniture shopping all day with my baby, with no results. Alls I knows is that it's gonna be expensive the next couple of...decades. Oh well, it's exciting nonetheless.
* * *
Overtime tomorrow. Easy there workaholic. Who am I kidding? I'm gonna watch DVDs.

Attention! Attention! Milestone Achieved!

The dream is alive and has come true... the newest Man Toy has been added:
Hot...literally!
The Beaumark BM64. Now all I need is a house and a natural gas hook-up. Unfortunately I won't have money for meat anymore, but that's besides the point.
I'm gonna barbeque everything now: steak, hot dogs, hamburgers, water, chickens, chocolate, fish, mayonaise, veggies...oh the possibilities are endless!

Keep The Mind Going

That's the mantra I had today, although not that I had much choice. Work seems to be busy, the house is coming up soon, got lotsa bills to pay, and I don't think I see my girlfriend enough. When I do see her, I treat her horribly. Too much things going through my mind; just want it to stop...at least for a couple of hours.
I don't sound complainey at all. Yeesh.
On the bright side, one of my favourite babies, Trinity, came to visit work with Ruthie again. Perhaps the most awesome baby ever.

A Clarifying Moment:

Someone I never knew about before until today, yet brought me close to tears after I read it from start to finish. Life's like that sometimes; made me realize partly how I live mine.
I need lots of improvements in mine, no doubt about it.

Adventures In Auto Repair

So everytime I try to fix my car, I always have this vision of myself:
I only repair cars with heels on
Unfortunately, whenever I finish, my car turns out something like this:
A little touch-up paint will fix that
So imagine my surprise when I was fixing my car door locks, I actually fixed it properly!
Of course I cut my hand, but that's besides the point.

Bait-Bull

So my slo-pitch team had it's first practice today (oh yeah, I got suckered into being Captain for my work's crappier slo-pitch team for the tournament next week). I am proud of each of my players and think they are doing great jobs trying their hardest.
Then again, it doesn't matter because we suck anyway and in no way were we ever really going to win.
But hey, playing in the field and turning a double play certainly brought me down memory lane (and memory pain).
Actual conversation today:
Sandra: "Jason you are doing a great job motivating everyone!"
Jason: "Thanks"
Sandra: "You keep saying nice things to everyone"
Jason: "That's because you deserve it...and plus I'll blog tonight how I really feel"
(assorted smattering of laughter)

Good thing it wasn't after Labour Day

"Knocked Up A Knock Out!"

That's the lame, cheesy headline I'd write if I were a movie critic. But that's only because it was such a darn funny movie.
The reaction after reading the title to this post
Funniest line in the movie for me, for some reason: "Marriage is a lot like Everybody Loves Raymond, except it's not funny"
And Seth Rogan still reminds me of Screech for some reason.

DeeBeeDee-ing

So for one reason or another, I worked today at the Brampton Flea Markets. So like every respectable and hardworking employee, I did what comes natural: I bought bootleg DVDs. Sure some of them are horrible quality, but nothing like Pirated movies for a great date with my baby. Nothing but the best for her!

Into The Cellar!

Going home today, it was like a tornado. Something like this:
Natural weather events porn?
Well, not quite, but it was pretty bad.
These extreme weather events are indicative of global pollution. Scary thought, really.

Lube Job

Not my car, but rather something I use just as much, if not more: my trusty computer.
If you squint closely, you can almost see a car frowning
Just got new Internet Security for my computer; hopefully it'll last for the next couple years in my new home.
Speaking of which, 3 more weeks before the start of my "mortgage years". Yikes!

I love my girl; I'm one of the luckiest summamabichs ever

Some "Think Abouts"

I had today:
-as I was driving my cousins to the airport, I thought to myself, "sigh"
-as I was working with stool (yes, my job is sometimes crappy), I thought to myself, "wow...can't wait to get out of this position"
-as I had a crazy work day that involved something like only a 15 minute lunch, I thought to myself, "this is nuts"
-as I wore my new hat and got all these compliments from the ladies at work, "yeahhhhh boyyyyy"
-as I was jogging after work during what seemed like the longest 7 km ever, "there is a difference between low energy and no energy. I think I got no energy"
-as I was eating my dinner, "why the heck does fish have so many bones? I think that may be one of the underlying reasons why I don't like fish so much"

Is It Over Already?

So one of my favourite cousin's and his family will be leaving tomorrow, and I gotta say that I'm kinda sad about it. Too bad they live in Long Beach. As always, the family that I actually do like and get along with has to live far away. That's okay though, as it gives us good reason to go down to California, say, next year. Hopefully this little guy will stay cute and well-behaved:

Mini-me-with-hair?
But one good thing that comes out of it will be my wallet not be feeling like a whore anymore (that is, it'll stop opening up so much). Again, not that I mind that much, but coupled with the wedding costs and the furniture buying, my card is taking quite the beating.
Ah well, such is life.

And Back

After a whirlwind weekend, I somehow ended back at work today (basically my family from Cali is at Niagara Falls right now). And blah did I feel.
It was nice going back to the gym and sweating, but I'm taking tomorrow off again for my Cousins' last day here, so it'll be quite the gluttonfest again.
Oh yeah, I also walked into an elevator door today (don't ask) and now I'm hurting. Nice.
I am happy though that I got the delivery date for some of our furniture on the day we wanted. The little things that make me happy...eeyeah

You Know What's Pretty Expensive?

Furniture is. But it's necessary, and Sharon and I have been blessed to have been able to bypass the Ikea Furniture stage of our lives. Not that Ikea is bad or anything, but I always thought that Ikea people were more University students and loft owners.

Now? We're The Brick people.
Hopefully the next level will be Idomo people, and after that is DeBoer's people (on regular price). Then finally custom-made (by me...ha! Now that's a joke) furniture people.

So Congrats To My Brother And New Sister

Everything went smoothly and I'm happy for them. How much fun did I have? Maybe this picture would help describe it:

I'm allowed a veil for my wedding too
One of the funniest parts of the night for me: my Dad's speech. I'm imagining a lot of the jokes may be recycled for my wedding, though.

Touristing

Takes a long time, but it's fun.
Started off at Master Steaks, where it's awesome that my cousin likes trucker joints as much as I do. And the steak I had was definetely one of the best I had.
Then to Winners, where I ended up getting a Joey Jeremiahish hat.
Then a drive through Toronto, including my first visit to (the parking lot) of Casa Loma.
Then to the CN Tower where we got in for free (score!) from my Mom's friend. Also ended up going to the SkyPod, which is higher than I've ever been in the CN Tower.
Great time, and I even squeezed in time to see Sharon where I think we found our other couches and bed set.
Yikes!
* * *
Wedding time tomorrow...gonna be hectic, but fun I hope.
