Interesting Quote I Heard (July 31 Edition)

"I turn to dreams to escape heartache"

Sweatin' Sweatin' Sweatin'

It's a good sweatin' doing all this walking at work being the glorified mailman.  I feel disgusting as heck, but oddly enough it also makes me feel good (knowing that at least I'm doing a tiny bit of exercise).  This is gonna be a great shower.

What doesn't feel good?  Being up until 2:00am with my horribly fussy child who was just so inconsolable.  Damn teething.  Nothing would work!  Tylenol, a soothing shower, water, food, not even being with Mommy.  It's all a part of parenthood, right?  I cannot complain.  This will pass too (and I'll surely forget about it as I always claim that I only remember the "good times" with this boy growing up).

I just feel bad for Sharon, as she is beyond exhausted.  She's had to take care of him the past two evenings while I've been doing o/t and he hasn't exactly been the most co-operative.  Thanks for being the best Mommy for Eamon, bubs

*  *  *

And the era of "no cable TV" has started.  Rogers just came today and removed the cable as we cancelled it.  I wonder how long we'll last (not fighting for the computer).

I'm still contemplating getting an antenna.  Just gotta find the time...

I Had Time. Then I Went Over.

It's the return of the newspaper delivery boy!

At least it wasn't scorching hot today and it was a good way to build up a sweat while working.  Worked at Brampton and the neighbourhoods I went to today make me really glad to live where I am (*Mississauga Snob Alert*) (actually, it's not even a Brampton vs. Mississauga thing.  There are a lot of parts of Brampton that are nice.  It's just this neighbourhood I didn't particularly like).

I also went to an area of Brampton that have estate homes from the 1970's.  These are super-gigantor lots and crazy big homes.  Unfortunately, the upkeep has been...terrible to say the least.  The homes looks like they are falling apart.  As well, it's always a nice surprise going to mailboxes (about 8 of them, really) to drop off flyers only to find that there are wasps nests in there because they abandoned using them.

Even funnier?  I was with my Supervisor Paul who drove me to the front door of a crazy big mansion, only to find the iron gate doors at the entrance...closing behind us.  It was a good thing that some (what appeared to be) housekeepers were on the property for sale (no one lived there) to let us out.  But it was quite tense as we would have had no idea how to exit the place.  Plus my imagination thought it was a drug dealers home and we were totally going to be shot up.  My imagination.  It's fantastic.

(Time-sensitive link ahead of the aforementioned house where we got locked in: http://www.REALTOR.ca/propertyDetails.aspx?propertyId=12061738&PidKey=-987186073)

And it happens all over again tomorrow (although this time by Mississauga Rd. and by my neighbourhood).  WNV what!

Miss seeing my boy in the evening, but sometimes I gotta do what I gotta do for money.  Thank goodness he has a good mother to pick up the slack

Love These Lazy Summer Days...

...except I wasn't that lazy!  It was a nice day though.

-watched a Korean movie on Netflix (thanks Arfeli for access to your account what!) called War of Arrows.  Wasn't too bad
-went to Crappy Tire and got a deal on some car cleaning products (one product wasn't actually on sale but I showed them in the flyer that it should be so they gave it to me at the sale price. The small victories are the best sometimes)
-spoke to Beevy and Mistie online.  It's been a while
-went for a nice bike ride with Eamon and Sharon
-did some garden work
-cleaned/wiped down the front doors and garage doors.  Looks brand new again!
-did a thorough cleaning inside and out of Fitta
-vacuumed under the refrigerator.  Crazy dust

I'm sure there was more stuff that made the day nice and which left me with an overall happy feeling.

Now then, just hoping Eamon has a more restful sleep tonight, as he has been pretty restless the past few days due to his teething (which in turn is causing him to have a fever and all sorts of crankiness)

2 Parties, 2 Poles

So we went to two parties today, and both parties seemed like they were on the opposite sides of the spectrum from each other.

The first was at Nancy and Sherman's place with all the kiddos (Don/Sarah and Arvin/Bonnie were there too).  Great fajitas and lots of conversation about, well...kids.  Fun times (no snark)!

The second party we went to was for Ryna's Engagement Party at the Absolute Condos.  Where the main objective for a lot of these (childless) people was to get absolutely trashed.  Good desserts and good conversation about, well...everything else but kids.  Fun times (no snark)!

I like both sides.

Of course both parties were tempered with the fact that Eamon is teething and as a result getting a fever and vomiting.  Poor kiddo.  Never gave him so much tylenol before like we are now.  Hope those teeth just cut through as soon as possible

There Goes The Neighbourhood...Time To Move!

Not that I'm overdramatic or anything.  But yeah...found out that the neighbours moving right across the street have sold the house to a family that has three teenaged sons.

I hope they aren't the hoodlum type of kids.  On another note, get ready for me to start saying "get off my lawn!" because I'm apparently on my way to being a crotchety curmudgeon

Sick Allergies

Crap.  I don't know if it's a case of bad allergies or if I'm getting sick.

Whatever the case, dangit...my nose is leaky

Had a nice massage from Rolando today.  Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have a very good benefits package from work.  I'm grateful!

Thursday = Friday Jr.!

Heard that on the radio.  I like it

*  *  *

Great fun times having Buh come over for dinner and hanging.  Surprising that Eamon didn't really cry with her and enjoyed playing with her (as he is going through some turribull mood swings lately).  She has that "White Nanny touch"

The Hormones Hath Commeth

Looks like my boy is going into the "terrible twos" quite early.  His mood swings are insane and his temper tantrums are getting to be in the range of...mine.

Yeah.

Good luck to Sharon

When it's not 37 degrees.  Nice cooler day today; can't complain.

Worked some o/t tonight checking out traps with Doreen.  I'm really enjoying this job change thus far

Foggy Again

Ever walk around in a daze?  Like things are just foggy?  Wondering if this is life?  Why things are the way they are?  What's real and what is not?

I do sometimes.

And today it isn't because of heat stroke (it was damn hot and I was working outdoors today).

So I'll continue, bobbing my head up and down, not knowing where I'm going but always looking to go forward

And Back To Reality After Ottawa

I'm feeling like I need one of those "days off after going away".  But I can't, and there's even a possibility that I might be working overtime tomorrow.  Such is life

*  *  *

I hate being really, really angry.  I also hate being a "hot-head" as some people refer to me as.

But I can't help it sometimes.  Sometimes I get really, really angry

Dark Knight During The Dark Night

So after a day of sightseeing in Ottawa, we took advantage of free babysitting last night by watching the Dark Knight Rises.  Even though it was a 2 hour, 45 minute epic, it was a pretty good movie.  How did I know?  I didn't have to pee throughout the whole movie.

And now the long drive home...nice, quick trip

Turken' It Up In The Nation's Capital

So we got to Ottawa (in pretty good time, actually).  It was already getting late so we went for dinner right away.  We went to Topkapi, a Turkish restaurant my coworker recommended.

It was...okay.  Nothing too much to write home about (as an aside, I've never wrote home about anything ever), but it was okay nonetheless.

Today will be sightseeing and then we'll try to take advantage of free babysitting and perhaps watch The Dark Knight Rises.  Just hope there isn't any stupidness happening there, like the shooting that happened in Colorado.  Crazy

To The Nation's Capital

Mini-roadtrip time!

Will be going to Ottawa tomorrow so Eamon can visit his Godmother.  We don't have any real plans there, but hopefully the trip will be nice.

Before that though, we'll be going swimming in the morning at the Y.  I guess I should pack/sleep...

The stupid, fat elephant at work is a piss off.  She is one of those people that bring out the worst in my thoughts and feelings.

Gotta let that go...

*  *  *

I miss the gym.  I mean, I go, but I miss the time that I actually have to stay there and exercise to the point I want.  Looks like I'll have to wait until October until I can really do that, but even then it won't be the amount of days per week I would like to.

It could always be worse.  I could not have any time to go at all

Oh Tee Babee

Did some checks for the student's work the past two evenings.  Get money!

Only thing was it is a little freaky going into the woods by yourself as the sun is going down.  Needless to say, I had a little bit of the tingly biyag going on.  Sometimes I hate my overactive imagination.

Either than that, it's been face-melting hot the past few days.  And of course I decide to go out and do work while wearing protective layers, rubber boots and lugging around a bag.  Needless to say, there have been shirt changes due to the powis.

It's days like today though that make me feel like I actually did something productive at work (even though in essence I prolly didn't).  Also, I really love taking showers after days like today.  Feels so good and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NChc__dH3jA

*  *  *

Accomplishment:  gave someone a compliment yesterday and then found out on FB that they said it was one of the nicest things said to them in a while and it made them feel good the whole day.  Nice...made me feel good too

Hanging With The Cuzzo's

Went to my Mom and Dad's house after work today because X and A were going as well.  Love seeing all the boys together.  Dang they are getting older and bigger

Caught up via FB with Holli, whom I met years ago in Cuba.  Crazy coincidence that she is now "seeing" a cousin (Emgee).  Small world indeed

H-Ang-Ing Out Redux

Hey Foot Jools!  Welcome to my thoughts and randomness and incoherent babbling.  In other words, welcome to my diary.  Ghey.

Anywho, the Ang's passed by today and as always, good times.  Crazy how you meet people, if you think about it.  There has to be all sorts of coincidences and happenchances (I just made up that word) in order to meet people and ultimately new friends.  But I digress.

After their visit, I put up a shower curtain rod at the in-laws and realized that I wish I had more time/money/motivation to do more reno work around the house.  One day, when things settle.  Right.

On another random note, I kinda sort of want a tattoo after watching "Best Ink".  Maybe

One thing I forgot to mention from the trip to Niagara last weekend was something funny (to me) I heard at one of the stores at Lundy's Lane.  A Filipino kid was fighting over a toy with presumably his brother, causing a ruckus.  The father gave the "I'm gonna scold you look" and said outloud:  "ssssssssssssssssssst.  WHY YOU'RE DOING THERE?"

Seriously.  Can't stop laughing about this

This Saturday Went By Fast

I seem to say that all the time.  But, it was a nice, quiet Saturday, so I can't complain

*  *  *

Watched the original Batman with Michael Keaton.  I remember collecting the trading cards when I was younger when the movie first came out and being crazy over this movie.  Mind you, I don't think I even watched the movie until years later (clearly I was quite the kid).

Now that I just watched it, it feels very dated.  I wonder if that's what I'll think in the future about the most recent Batman's (which I'm excited to see).

And Tenna

So we're canceling our cable by the end of this month (apparently we don't watch it enough to justify the cost).  So that means we're gonna have to get an antenna.

I mean, sure it's only 22-25 channels, but it's all free and it's all HDTV what!

Only problem now is figuring out how to mount/install this thing.  I also have to figure out how to ground it so that if lightning hits it, the TV and house won't fry.  Details, details.  Okay, fine, major details, major details.

Anywho, good bye HGTV.  Sucks

I Got Used To Working Indoors

So one of my students was sick this morning and as a result I had to go out with the other one.  On a hot, sunny and steamy day.

Needless to say, I was Sir Sweats-A-Lot and quite uncomfortable.

Days like today, though, make me realize how sometimes I have it good, and that it's not bad to work for the money.  Plus I did get some exercise.  It's all about the brightside!

*  *  *

I think I have a problem when it comes to ordering eyeglasses online.  But I shouldn't feel embarrassed, really.  I mean, I have benefits and I do have to use them.

I wonder if I'll get laser eye surgery in the future, totally negating the dozen plus frames I currently have...lol

Kuya

So Eamon and I went to the park after dinner today while his mother went for karate.  Initially, we were the only patrons there.

Then a mother with her 10 year old kid came by and went on the swings.  The mother exclaimed, "oh my goodness!  He is sooooo cute!  Are you the Father?"

I kind of laughed and said "yes, I'm the Father."

She retorted, "you look so young!  I thought you were maybe his older brother or something."

LOL

Sadly, she was cougaring me or anything (really now?  Inflated head do we have?  Has anyone ever "cougared" you?  smh).   I'm just going to blame her slip-up on (stereotyping alert) the fact that white people have a hard time judging Asian people's ages

Accomplishment:  load of laundry done.  Oh, and I also stopped myself from telling off the fat elephant idiot at work.  This close though!

I'm A Newsboy

Years ago when I was a kid, I wanted a newspaper route.  Extra money!  But my parents always said "no, concentrate on school.  And you don't need money."

I mean, I think I did.  I wanted to buy baseball cards and Transformers stickers.

Anywho, I had to work some o/t this past evening because some positive for WNV mosquitoes were caught.  So we did what we call "canvassing", which is really nothing more than putting a sheet of information in a designated area's mailbox.  So essentially, I became a newspaper delivery boy.  And I enjoyed it!  Good exercise and mindless work.

I also randomly ran into Daniel, my old next door neighbour growing up (even though he was Con's age).  He has a wife and kid and looks to be doing well for himself and is still the same guy I remember.

And yup, Mississauga is quite big to traverse just on foot.  More of this tomorrow, except in the sweltering heat.  Perfect!

*  *  *

I think I enjoy watching 9/11 conspiracy films too much.

I also am almost convinced that it was truly an inside job.  Hope to find out real answers once I'm dead!

So there's this new social networking thing at work called "Yammer".  I liken it to a FB for work.

Because that's what I need...even more social media.

Yup, I joined it

Speaking to the older, immigrant students at work about their hopes for a job as a PHI at Peel (sadly, very slim) helps reinforce how utterly lucky I am to be in the position I am in.

We Went On A Safari (Niagara)

Well that was...fun!

We got some groupons for a place called Safari Niagara, which I never heard of.  We made the 1.25hr trek there, and I wasn't expecting much.  What we got was a whole lot of walking, a lot Eamon going "bird?" to every animal, some splashpadding (dope when you're sweating to death), and a pretty good, affordable time out.

I think Eamon will enjoy the big zoo (especially if we go to the one in San Diego).

We then went to Lundy's Lane and I got a pair of wet/dry shoes, and Eamon had one of the absolute worse diaper-situations he's ever had.  And now that he's quite active, I can't just leave him on the changetable.  And since we were using cloth diapers...yeah.  Fiasco.  It got to the point when I was trying my best to clean the cloth diaper, he was throwing down the sanitary napkin garbage container (aka where the tampons go; I was in the Family Washroom) and he was trying to put his hands in the toilet.  Thinking I had it under control (and after 4 vigorous handwashings with extra soap), I got home only to realize...I left the cloth diaper in the bathroom.

Dammit.

I always pride myself in not leaving anything, but there was obviously a breakdown.  I gotta refocus my game here.

I feel bad for the janitor who finds a disgusting, used cloth diaper on the counter...yikes

In Which I Became Horribly Dizzy And Nauseous

Poor kiddo barfed in his sleep last night.  Gave him a shower at 12:30am, and had to wash his clothes.  I think it may have been the super-contagious norovirus (if it was, it really went through his system quickly because he was fine after that).  Why do I think it was?

Because I was crazy sick today.  Went to work for a few hours but went home and took 3 separate naps (I might be screwed for tonight).  Had chills, nausea, vomitted, dizziness.  Yuck.  Wouldn't wish this on anyone.

And like a true norovirus, I seem to be getting better.  Felt bad for Sharon because she had to do everything in the house today as I was pretty useless.

Hope I feel better for tomorrow because it's Eamon's first swim class for the new session.  I hope we both don't barf in the pool

In Which I'm Enjoying My Job

Nice.  Enjoying it thus far

Good game of ball this morning, where I blocked two consecutive shots on both Kelvin and Franklin.  I never block shots as I'm the shortest and my vertical has a lot left to be desired for.

Whatever, I'll take it

Another Long Season Ahead

I've always been a Raptors fan from the start.

I wasn't sure how I felt when the Raps were going "all in" on 38 year old Steve Nash (one of my basketball heroes).  I mean, he's a totally awesome player but he is, well...a bit old.

Then I found out that he's most likely going to the Lakers.  Wowza.

But back to the Raps...just wish they were able to attract quality not-always-European players instead of having a reputation of not being a place where good players would want to play.

I guess I'm going to have to accept the fact that they just aren't going to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Not that I'm too distraught about this (than, say, I would be during the Vince Carter years)

*  *  *

Face-melting weather.  The boy and I hung out at the Real Canadian Superstore to cool down after dinner...lol.

The kiddo is getting so much smarter now.  For example, I ask him for his sandals and he gets his sandals.  Crazy

Sad feeling:  my work BFF and I haven't spoken in a while.  I tried e-mailing her today and got a quick one-line response but that was about it.  Sucks.

No harsh feelings from me towards her though...sometimes people just grow apart.  I sure as hell have a history of that
