All For Nothing

So I went for a jog this morning. A nice jog.
Then I ate the day away. I hate it when that happens.
In my defence, it was my Godson Mikey's birthday party, and Kim always prepare enough food for 73 people, despite the fact only 17 showed up. And the food is always so dang good (aside: it would be funny if food rhymed with good).
Tomorrow my Ryerson classmates are coming over...ulp...here we go again...

Five Years...

...ago, my Lola passed away. A lot has certainly changed in my life. I don't visit her at the cemetary enough, and I don't think about her much; at least as much maybe as I feel I should. I'd like to think though that she understands

Uneasy Times

But then again we always tend to overworry about pretty much everything.
One step at a time

A Stone's Throw(n Away)

And the mass exodus of the stuff we don't want in our backyard continues. Thanks to my lovely wife and the power of Craigslist, we will be absolved of about 2000 lbs. of landscaping stone that we do not want. My back will be plenty happy.
One man's junk is another man's treasure, even if they come all the way from Markham (considering the price of gas, wouldn't it have been cheaper for them to just buy new stones?)

TWOthreefourfiveSIXseven

So I started my on2 Salsa classes. And? It's fun! (except for that whole sweating profusely part). I hope I learn something in the next 8 weeks

9021-Oh-Oh

So where the heck did I get the idea of watching the 2 hour premier of the new 90210? Seriously, it sorta...sucked. (And yes, I do realize I watched the whole thing so that in essence makes me sucky.)
But anyway, it will be one show I won't be watching in the future.
If only they had even one hot girl...

Monday, September 01, 2008

One Man's Junk Is Another Man's...

...well, quite frankly, I don't care. The hot tub is gone!
Thank goodness for people who think hot tubs are useful. Yee-uh!

Derth

So I've been not posting lately. I started this blog as a collection of future recollections, and now I've just been too...apathetic?...to continue posting.
Luckily nothing much has been going on with life. Just another summer coming to a close with a ton of things on my plate left to do (in terms of housework, workwork, lifework).
I've also made a concerted effort to not be on the internet so much (failing at that).
But nonetheless, maybe my posting will pick up in the near future. It's inevitable I go through lulls

Another Phase?

Since I've come back from my vacation (a very long 3 days ago), I've made a somewhat new commitment.
I shall exercise more and I shall spend less time on the internet.
We'll see how that goes

Work

Blah.
So I find out that I was right at the top of the interviews for the position I did not get, and it was basically a "coin-flip" to see who got the position. The person who got the position got it because she was already in the Mississauga office, while I am in the Brampton office.
Quite frankly, I don't know how to feel about that

Am I Refreshed?

Ready to go back to work?
I'm not sure

Las Vegas And Los Angeles?

Good times...but am glad to be back home

Thursday, August 14, 2008

"Sorry, But..."

Well at least I got the answer before I leave for Vegas. I'm not overtly upset, but no one of course likes being rejected. I still believe that I would have been the best candidate; but no sense fretting.
Which reminds me, I guess I should pack. Especially since I'll be leaving in nine hours from now.
And what sucks? I'm getting an upset stomach. I hope I didn't get food poisoning. That would just suck so bad, it would be suckbad

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

"Well, I'd Like To Understand The Situation First"

I think about 40% of my answers today on my interview started like that. Well, I don't think I got the job, but it's all good; no harm, no foul, great experience. Still got my old job which I do like.
It was somewhat fun though wearing a suit to work and having some of the ladies call me, amongst other things, "hot". wtf? Never been called that before. I know I'm an attentionwhore, but I think that was a wee bit too much attention.

Three Little Words

So there was something Arvin said today that confirmed that he will be getting married soon (I predict 2010):
"I like stability"
(What's love got to do with it?)

Almost There...

...then my tingly biyag can subside. I hope!
Feels like I'm in school again

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Dammit, I'm Sick!

Looks like I got a Facebook virus. Oops! Don't know how that happened...

Friday, August 08, 2008

Focus Man, I Gotta Focus Man

Time to step it up, clean it up, and concentrate

This time next week I'll be in Vegas...looking forward to it, but I also have a lot of stuffs to do in the meantime

I'll Have Some Chips With That Salsa

New hobby for the fall: Salsa On2. (No, seriously...I'm all signed up, paid and ready to go starting Sept. 7)

Tuesday, August 05, 2008

UhOh

Could it be? Have I stopped updating on a regular basis?
I guess that happens when life gets busy. Well, that's a lie because I'm still on the internet a lot. But I have been busy these past few days, including:
-tearing up the last bathroom to be renovated. I hope I know what I'm doing
-going to Carlo/Kalina's BBQ, a couple we haven't seen since our honeymoon where we met
-hectic day at work as two new people started
-getting ready fo something I think I secretly wished for but am very apprehensive about. Tingly biyag!

My Dad Is Funny Pt. 42

"Hey Dad"
"Hey, how was your camping trip?"
"It was okay. I got bit by a lot of mosquitoes, and it rained a lot. There was lightning too"
"Did you get hit?"

Them Eyes Will Burn Right Through You

So Sharon and I had our first camping trip of the year: Bon Echo. We went a couple of years ago, and it was a lovely site.
Still is.
Except...for the raccoons. Proving we're still not quite past the "city slickers" stage, we foolishly left our food out. In the middle of the night, the raccoons came, ate all the remaining food (with the exception of pancake mix and apples). But it wasn't just that they ate it; it was how they ate it.
Let me tell you, waking up to a screeching, growling raccoon getting into the food bins is scary enough. But when you stick your head out from the tent and see five eyes staring right back at you...yeah, you just sort of give up trying to scare them away and let them eat all the food.
On the bright, rationalized side, they ate our junk food which, of course, was what we should not be eating.
Oh yeah, the weekend was pretty rainy, but we watched DVD's (camping, nature, what!), and I actually read a book (Bringing Down The House). I don't know what's gotten into me lately; two books in one week? Whaddahell?
* * *
Got some thinking to do for a possible position at work

Joy And Disappointment

So the baby shower I planned for Kathie turned out to be a success (well, at least in the fact that she was surprised and really liked the gifts we gave her). Ruthie even brought Trinity and she didn't cry! In fact, I think she likes me because we had some rather insightful, articulate conversations. Seriously, this baby is the smartest two year old I have ever come across. I can't wait until Sharon and I...get a dog. And then a child. Hopefully.
But then there was the disappointment for the day: our contractor, who is 95% complete our bathroom, did not show up again today. Sharon is understandably upset. We're so close, yet, so far away.
I'm trying to take a new route so that I don't pop a blood vessel. Patience. There is nothing I can do when it's up to others thatwe rely on. I understand that we paid him a lot of money for a good product; which, it admitedly is. The problem is, as is most things in life, the service we expect is turning out to be horrible.
In the grand scheme of things, the bathroom will be complete and we will be happy with it. But I guess that saying of "the ends sometimes does not justify the means" applies.
* * *
Going camping tomorrow for the first time in a long time. Bon echo! Hopefully it does not rain too too much. Would love to go canoeing again...hopefully we don't fall in.
* * *
Finally, one of my best friends at work (and, well, best friends period I guess) is having a hard time. She desperately wants a child, but is not having any luck yet. To make it more unfortunate for her, our other friends are going on mat leave soon. When they leave, it will just be us two again (when I first started for the Region, she and I were the youngest ones there and we really clicked. Let's just say she's as retarded as I am).
For a long time I selfishly did not want her to leave (even on mat leave) because she's my lunch buddy and someone I talk to and tell things to that I really don't tell anyone else (with the exception of Sharon, of course). But for the past few years, I've seen the pain in her face.
Now, more than ever...I'd rather be alone at work and her on leave (she admitted she probably would not return if she got preggers). I can't wait to meet their future child; no doubt it would feel love that any child would want, and more.
I wish when the time comes, Sharon and I do not have that problem

Blukackular

Haven't had that in a while: was knocked out yesterday from food poisoning.
I think it stemmed from eating the leftover pulled-pork sandwich from the ribfest (I don't think I'll be able to eat pulled-pork sandwiches for years to come now; the thought of it makes me nauseous).
I don't know if I could've avoided it. It's not like I know anything about food safety or anything. Loser!

Friday, July 18, 2008

Git Me A Bib For That Rib

Going to the Ribfest tonight at City Hall. Let's hope it's not too crowded, because, you know, I'm all sorts of crankey when it comes to that

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

iRed?

So I did something today that I haven't done in a long time: I read. A book. For fun.
I was teaching a course with Kathie and it was at a place that I couldn't leave during my breaks. So I decided to read the girly book she brought ("If you can see me now" by the same authour of "P.S. I love you"). It's a 355 page book and I got to page 102. I told her to bring it in again when she's done with it (I always finish what I start...sometimes...most times.)
Couple this with yesterday's post, it would be safe to say that I'm looking awfully fruity these days.

All I Needed Was The Touch Of A Man

Okay, the title sounds tres homo, but it's true.
I went for a massage therapy appointment today (to make it doubly gay, his name was Ricardo), and, well...it was the best massage I ever had. Maybe it was due to the fact that "man hands" make for a deeper tissue massage. Or maybe it was due to the fact that it was all business, with no small talk or idle chatter. Or maybe it was because his technique was so different from the previous massage therapists I've had. Or maybe it was all of the above.
Whatever the case, my muscles just felt like it went through a workout of the good kind.
Ummm...I think I'm gonna go chop some wood, shave my beard and make out with my wife now

Monday, July 14, 2008

OhOh...It's Peaking

Just watched a show on Food Network called "In Search of the Perfect Peking Duck". Not surprisingly, I'm a little dehydrated due to the drooling.
Oh yeah, and the 8 month project of finishing the shutters is nearing done. Mind you I have motivation: finish the renos, get a Great Dane. I wish!

Sunday, July 13, 2008

First Time In A While!

Staying home all weekend and having no events, that is.
So we took advantage and worked around and out of the house. I finally 90% finished the California Shutters project I started about, oh, 8 months ago. I even borrowed my neighbour's tall ladder and (without looking down) climbed up high to take off the decorative shutters from the second story window while my wife mocked me.
Now I just need to concentrate on the backyard...

Nevermind You Eastgate

For the past few years I've been getting my eyeglasses and contacts at Dixie Park Optical. After I went to look today, I think I'm done with them. Aside from the fact that they don't have that much selection, it's also quite pricey.
I'm gonna find another optician (and not in Markham anymore, as more and more it's not worth it anymore to drive down there)

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Craziest Thursday Jaunt Ever!

Woke up at 4:00am to drive parents to Buffalo.
Finally got to Buffalo airport at 7:15am-ish.
Got to Mercer, PA at 11:15am-ish.
Went crazy shopping.
Drove to Walden Galleria to eat at Cheescake Factory (one word to describe the place: ridonkulous).
Didn't get dinged at the border (score!).
Got home at 10:25pm.
Go to gym tomorrow morning.
Die.
But at least it's the weekend after that!

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Pence Ill Vay Nana

So looks like we're gonna couple our trip to Buffalo with Pennsylvannia. All in one day.
Like, whoa!

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

That's It?

So after three faithful months of watching Hell's Kitchen, the show came to a close today. And I can't help but feel...unsatisfied. I don't know what it is.
Maybe this is why I shouldn't be watching reality TV
* * *
Slightly irritating change of plans for Thursday: was supposed to drive my parents after work to Buffalo for their trip. Instead I find out it will have to be before work. Oh well

And You Are...?

"The Workmate! Not the husband!"
And thus went my day at the Emergency Room at the hospital. Ruthie somehow fainted and bumped her head at work today, and an ambulance had to be called. I decided to go along with her so that she wouldn't be alone. It's true what they say at the ER in Peel...four hour wait for a five minute checkup.
But hey, at least she was okay. And it did lead to this somewhat amusing exchange:
Me (phonecall to my cell, where there is hardly any reception in the ER) : "Hello? Hello?"
Sharon: "Hello? Are you in a meeting?"
Me: "No, I'm in the hospital"
Sharon: "What...*click*" (lost reception)
I wish there was more dramatic suspence, but she called a few seconds later and the story was cleared up. But still, nothing like hearing your spouse is in the hospital for reasons unknown

Sunday, July 06, 2008

Happy Debut Cessy

So I went to a debut today, and somehow ended up in it. Oldest Rose there.
And just when I thought I was done with it, ten years later I get sucked back in.
But whatever, it wasn't that that bad

Friday, July 04, 2008

Now Who's Gonna Rub My Body?

My massage therapist is leaving her clinic and her field altogether. I finally found a good one (albeit she did talk a lot), and now she's leaving.
Looks like I have to find another set of capable hands

Goal Update

Remember that goal of 155 by August? I suppose I'm still on my way...if I point out how I didn't technically say what year. Let's just say I tried to go running today, and crashed and burned.
160? Maybe more reasonable. If I was a reasonable person.
* * *
Finally put up some Maritime pics on my Facebook account. Of course I always have to try to be a comedian, so it took me over an hour. And now what? Looks like I'm not gonna sleep a lot for tomorrow; and yet, I still post this. Sounds about right

Happy BirthCanadaDay Baby

28 years young...and doesn't look a day over 29. If that makes sense.
What better way to celebrate than to have friends and family over, and on top of that the next day being a stat holiday meaning no work?
No way!
For some unknown reason, she got stopped at the border for a "random terrorist check". Some unknown reason
And what says Birthday and Canada Day better than a Mexican party?
Nothing!

Sunday, June 29, 2008

Backabreakah

Man oh man carrying those stones from the pond is heavy. Hopefully it'll look good in the end.
* * *
Team Miktie (aka. Chrischael) is in town. They just came over and we spent hours talking, as if nothing has changed. In a way, nothing really has...it's not like we see our other friends on a more frequent basis. I suppose that's what happens when you gets olds
* * *
My darling's anniversary on the date of her birth tomorrow, which can only mean one thing: Mexican party!

Motion For Laotian Nuptualotion

So we went to Ian and Maunly's Laotion wedding today...very interesting.
It was kind of like going to an auction house. Sounds mean, but really, it was. That along with loud, high-pitched singing and cold food, it accounted for a unique outing

Friday, June 27, 2008

Being Green = Melting

So it's mighty hot in our house (think 29 degrees) because I suppose we are being "green".
I think I want to re-label "green" as "sweat".
* * *
Long week of work done (and on the first week back from vacation too!). Thank goodness, cause I worked some mighty hours. I think I need (another) vaykay
* * *
Gonna watch "Inch of Your Life: Episode 2" tonight, my friend Andrew from work's play. I hope it ends with Episode 3 because if it gets to Episode 17 or gets to "Inch of Your Life: The Movie", I might go broke

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Goodbye Pond, Hello Swamp

So we are going through the stages of getting rid of our pond in our backyard. Long story short: leaking, too much work, waste of water.
Short story long: as in, work. Damn it's gonna take a long time to get rid of it. On top of that, water is stagnating in the hole and stinking up the place like no one's business. It's a swamp.
I started getting rid of the water (manually, with a bucket) and got eaten alive by the mosquitos (hello West Nile Virus!). I started trying to get rid of the liner so the water could seep back into the earth, and what do I find out? The stupid idiot previous previous owners used old pieces of carpet, tarp and other crap under the liner. What the F?

RIP Pond

So the big job turned even bigger.
And on top of that, our bathroom is still a couple weeks from being completely done because the countertop and sink are on back-order, and our contractor will have to move our toilet a few inches to the left for better clearance. I'm just really, really glad that he's doing it and it's not me. But regardless, it'll be a while before we can use the bathroom and I don't imagine my wife being all too pleased with the prospect of that.
But hey, I'm working overtime. I don't know how that's supposed to make me feel better, but I suppose money is always a good thing. Gosh knows I'm running out of it...haha...oh wait...

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Back To Work

And...back to not wanting to be at work. That can't be good

Monday, June 23, 2008

Lobster Tailin' It Outta There

Well, that was a blast, but it's time to return to reality. Back to the grind tomorrow, but I feel a bit more refreshed.
The Maritimes is beautiful (I'll see if I put up pics in the future...don't hold your breath).
Perhaps one of the most poignant moments of the trip came courtesy of my wife, who said this gem: "We are overeating too much. Hey, you think obese people are the way they are because they think they're always on vacation?"

I love her

Friday, June 20, 2008

Maritimistamines

What the hell...how do I get crazy allergies here. I think it got to the point I developed a headcold.
Why the hell do I always get sick when I go on vacation? Seriously...what the F?
Aside from that, we're here in beatiful PEI. New Scotland was fun and all, but we needed a change of scenery. Too bad the motel we're at is all sorts of ghetto. Hope we don't get body lice from the sheets or anything

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

It Was Bound To Happen

Getting lost! Luckily it was only a matter of 60 km. But with gas at $1.45/l here...yikes.
So to counteract that (and for the sake of my health), I plan to skip lunch for the next couple of days. Right. Let's see how that turns out.
We're here in Lunenburg, a mighty quaint town, home of the Bluenose (that which appears on the Canadian dime). Ironically, the Bluenose isn't in town. It's in Ontario (no joke)
Off to Cape Breton tomorrow

Monday, June 16, 2008

Whale Of A Tale

Saw some Minke Whales today; no Humpbacks (or "Hunchbacks" as Sharon called it). But that's okay, because we also saw some seals (aka. dogs of the sea). Fun times, and we didn't drown!
The overeating tour continues...

Sunday, June 15, 2008

Overeating?

Check.
Going whale-watching tomorrow...only one potential problem: there may be no whales to watch. We'll be hopeful. If not? I'll just take off my shirt and look in the mirror

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Playin' In Canada's Playground

So far, it's a-oh-fun-kay.
Lobster? Check.
Fish n' Chips? Check.
Donairs? Check.
Everything else? Check.

Thursday, June 12, 2008

After This, 6 Down...

4 Provinces and 3 Territories to go until we truly "Discovered Canada". I'm excited!
Hallyfacks and Green Gables, here I come

I Can Smell The Lobster Now

Too bad I have to wait a couple more days.
In the meantime: crazy cleanup in the house and laundry to do. I hope it makes my vacation all the more sweeter

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Fear Nothing But Fear Itself

What a crappy saying. Ever since Sharon left and I've been home alone and watching CSI, I all of a sudden have this irrational fear that an intruder is in my house and is going to kill me.
Yep.
I'm a man.
* * *
Three more days then I'm leaving...on a jet plane...to Halipacks

Saturday, June 07, 2008

Melting Day Pt. 2

I'm in for a long summer.
On a brighter note, I'll be going to the Maritimes next Friday, with Sharon leaving today.
Bachelor!
(who is not really going to do anything, anyway...woo-hoo?)

Friday, June 06, 2008

First Melting Day, 2008

In other words, it's damn hot and humid again. I hate my glandular system!
* * *
Exactly one week until I'm in the Maritimes...hopefully it will be the Marigoodtimes

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

Take A Dive

So I'll be teaching my first Swimming Pool Operator course tomorrow.
One problem: I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Sounds about right

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

So When Did Life Get So Expensive?

Either that or I'm horrible at saving money.
I'm willing to bet the latter

Monday, June 02, 2008

There Goes Another One

B (or rather, just "Jay") has decided to go even further west than Dr. Sy to BC. Exciting and apprehensive times for him I'm sure.
What the frick, where the hell are all my friends going? Who said they were allowed to have a life outside of Ontario...more importantly, don't they know my wife will be doubly displeased that another one is going out West?
Regardless, good luck to him and Ives as they embark on their new phase of life. It just gives us more reason to visit Vancouver

What, I'm not going to put up this picture?

Sunday, June 01, 2008

Le Whirlwind

That was a fast trip to Montreal and back:
-watching Ian and Arvin salsa, I have come to the conclusion that I will learn how this summer
-legwarmers
-Schwartz's and Simon's...the double "S" threat that makes me keep wanting to come back

Friday, May 30, 2008

Mo' Reh All

Going today...au revoir!

Thursday, May 29, 2008

Bathroom Happiness

So our bathroom reno is coming quite along...and I didn't have to do a thing (well, except get broke). Can't wait for it to be completely done
* * *
Going to Montreal tomorrow for Ian's stag pt. 1 (not going to pt. 2 which involves whurres). Schwartzie's, here I come to eat you!

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Kee-YEOW

So my wife had a karate injury to her thumb.
I had a similar one once...changing the channel on the TV remote.
As a result, she can't really grasp anything with it (there's a joke somewhere in there, but for the sake of not exposing myself as a pervert, we'll just stop it right here)

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Cut!

So another year of my "acting talents" has been completed (albeit for work). It was fun, and performing in front of 600 people always leaves me feeling somewhat accomplished. I always say "never again" but who am I kidding...I think I actually enjoy it.
* * *
Yep, it was a plumbing mistake and it's been rectified. The bathroom is coming along, and if I wasn't so dang lazy I would post all the before/after pics. We'll see.
* * *
I am starting work at York Region tomorrow. Traffic here I come

Monday, May 26, 2008

Renoriffic

So the renos for the bathroom officially started...and looks like there is a plumbing issue already. I'm sure he will rectify it by tomorrow.
Tomorrow being Staff Day at work. I somehow got myself involved with the skit again. Performing as a munchkin in front of 600 people. Seriously...

Sunday, May 25, 2008

Suckatash

I hate it when my weekends are short (at least when it feels short).
Yesterday was a long day though; worked my annual overtime shift for the Water Festival and it was nutso. Still, though, it's a pretty easy way to make overtime money.
We then had our dispadeedaa party for Team Beevy. BBQ and karoke; nothing better.
More and more friends leaving...that's life I guess

Friday, May 23, 2008

Another Reminder Of Hobbes

So I just came from my parents house, where some family friends came from Calgary. My (quasi-)cousin Angel was there. She's now 14 years old. She used to be babysat by my Lola when she was three.
Hobbes used to always tackle her. She's now a dee-laa-gaa.
And to top it off, the animal shelter sent my parents a "memorial letter" of Hobbes recently.
Oh yeah, and a family friend just had a cute baby, and we were all holding her. If Hobbes was alive? Utter jealousy and would end up breaking/ripping something in our house to show her anger.

I miss my doggy.
* * *
Water Festival time tomorrow...otherwise known as easy overtime. Yee-uh

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Salamin(imum Distance: 200km)

So I went to get a new pair of glasses...in Markham.
Don't ask me why, although I think it was worth the drive because they had nice frames as opposed to the selection around here. It doesn't hurt that it turned out to be like $150 cheaper than places here.
The only problem now? I have to drive back to pick them up

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Nerve-os

I swear I pinched a nerve by my left shoulder. Hurts like a heck

Hair We Go Again...

...hey, it beats a title like "Hair Today, Gone...ummm...Today".
So as you might have guessed it, 7 months of growing hair all gone in one (or dozens more) swoops of a shaver.
Feels great, if not cold (again). And now, for the attention whore-like explainin' to do tomorrow at work

Monday, May 19, 2008

Great Day Of Nothing

-Pacific Mall with Arvin. Bubble tea, fresh made noodle soup, pirated DeeBeeDees
-watched Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at home with my wife
-watched Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian at the theatres with my wife
-next thing I know, my longer-long weekend is completed. Back to reality tomorrow...sigh

Thanks Victoria, Thy Majesty

For your day. It made my long weekend even longer. Although, at this point, the question arises: almost over already?
* * *
Writing "Thy Majesty" made me think that I haven't been being a good Catholic lately. Haven't been to Church for a while.
This weeks excuse? Sharon's sick and I feel like I'm getting there. Horrible!

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Obligatory "I'm Dying" Pic:

From this year's 10km race, anyway.

Yes, people with that kind of hair run too

So That's What It's Like...

Dave and Heather and their two kids (aged 2.5 and 8 months) came over today.
I don't think our house is ready to have kids.
I don't know if we are ready to have kids.
Yet

Prismal?

So I had my eye appointment today, and I find out that I may have...a lazy eye. D'oh! Karma coming back at me (that is, all those years making fun of people blinder than me and all those years making fun of Arvin's retarded eyes). It's not that bad, but I'll know in 6 months if I need a prism prescription.
But at least I get to get a new pair of glasses...a little thicker, but what can you do?

No 'Mo Drama

So the second (much less successful) season of soccer has come to a close, and how. We were moved up a notch to a more competitive division, and only ended up winning one game. On top of that, we just played the last game against a completely classless team, where a bunch of teammates of mine were close to fighting.
In other words: damn I'm glad it's over.
The game itself is fun, but that's the thing I never lose sight of: it's a game. Some people take it way too seriously. Obviously, I'm not one of them. I have a lot of other great things going on in my life.
So the next session would seem to be in the fall...let's see if I'm up for it again. Rather, let's see if they ask me to be on the team again...lol

That Was Iron, Man

Great movie.
Can't wait for the next Batman movie

12 Seconds?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So, if I ran all out for 13 seconds near the end of my annual Mississauga Marathon 10km race, I would've beaten the evasive 50 minute mark and gotten into the long sought-after 49 minute range. And all on NO training whatsoever! (okay, well, maybe I shouldn't be so upset. No training = best time ever. Therefore, don't ever train).
Good news: my body is not broken down like I thought it would be. I guess basketball, soccer and my improved diet is really working.
Bad news: I'll have to wait a year to try to get into the 49-minute mark.
Surprising news: I beat Arvin by six seconds! What the hell? He did profess to getting fatter in the past year (and he also did not train), so I guess it's not so much that I beat him but he beat himself. But I still crossed the finish line before him. Thus? I get the ultimate "come back" for at least the rest of the year. Score!

Coming To Terms

With the fact that my doggy is not gonna be here anymore.

My dog; she of the sungit variety and hardheadedness.

My dog; who refused to be like a typical dog.

My dog; who stank because she never liked to be cleaned.

My dog; the beautiful creature whose howls were the most beautiful howls I've ever heard.

My dog; she who curled up in the middle of the couch in front of dozens of people as my Lola was opening all her gifts from her 80th birthday, refusing to be left out of the party.

My dog; she who fought with any and all dogs, just because.

My dog; the one who attacked a skunk, just because.

My dog; the one who swallowed a luggage lock because she didn't want my Mom to travel to the Philippines, only to barf if up as she was leaving the door towards the airplane.

My dog; the humperer, despite the fact she was a she.

My dog; the one who never showed her love back to us (perhaps that's why we loved her even more?).

My dog; she who always became super jealous and enraged whenever one of us was holding a baby.

My dog; the socially-retarded one.

My dog; the one who we saved from an apartment-life, who was rail-thin when we got her, and who went on to live 12 happy (at least, I would think) years.

My dog...sigh...my dog

Oh Hobbeszie Girl

Screwed up blogger at home; can't blog properly.

On top of that, I think the end is near for my dog. I think I'm pretty sad

New Car!

I got a new car...well, not really. I got a new clutch, and now it feels like a new car.
I give it about another two months. Before I need to replace it again.

Procrastinate Much?

Wow...I believe this is the longest I have went without blogging (save for the times I was on vacation). Nothing much has been happening in my life, which may be the reason I'm feeling blah.
Raptors are out of the playoffs, a lot of work is to be done both at work and at home (and of course I'm not doing it because I'm tres lazy) and I'm spending money like I have it (in all fairness, I do need a new clutch for my car).
Seems like I'm in a funk again, but at least I have a new favourite word for the moment: ridonkulus.
Ridonkulus!

Screw Them!

There has been a glaring lack of recognition towards the Toronto Raptors, despite the fact they are currently entrenched in a playoff series with the Orlando Magic. The reason? I can't stand them this season. Can't really explain it except for the fact that they are maddingly inconsistant to the point it drives me mad.
Couple that with the fact my basketball hasn't won a game all season, in additon to my secondary team (Phoenix Suns) not looking good to win their season: basketball is making me cry.

Here We Grow Again

Gotta stop with the unhealthy eating again and rationalizing it with the whole "I exercise" excuse. Focus man, you gotta focus man.

Looks like instead of Cancun, it'll be Biiba Los Begazzzz!!! Maybe

"Hello, I'm Jason..."

Felt weird to be out on the road again and being an actual inspector. First time in months, to be exact.
Eh. It's overrated

And It's Begun...

...NBA Playoffs! That means less sleep, more angst, and feelings of sadness that I didn't get to be a professional basketball player. (So the last point is ridcurous...still...)

Forbidden Kingdom

Good movie: great action, funny parts, good storyline. And the thing that tops is all off? That's right...Chinese people talking engrish

Yes Bono...

...it is a Beautiful Day. Got some stuff done, on my day off no less.
Can't wait for the summer to roll around (minus the heat)

Oh...Aaaa...Cys

Awesome; we picked out our Master Ensuite from Oasis Bathrooms and it should be made in about 5-6 weeks. Can't wait.

Stupid

Only word I could come up with as I sat in a meeting with the people I work with. I hardly ever like to use that word (and mean it, that is); but, seriously...stupid people

Shine Hath Gone?

So all the fun and joy of the "beautiful game" I decided to join may be over this season. We were bumped up a notch to a higher division and the competition (that is, "prick-levelness of the opposing team") has subsequently raised as well.
Yesterday found me on the receiving end of an opposing player trying to elbow me as I was running towards the ball. Luckily I avoided it and screamed, "WHAT THE HELL? WHY YOU TRYING TO ELBOW ME?" He responded by saying "that was for the last play." The hell? (I will not resort to saying a stereotypical statement about his ethnicity. At this point, anyway).
And the ref? "Play on, nothing happened." Seriously. I could've gotten hurt.
Oh, and the fun-loving, joyful team I had from last season? Apparently we lost some key players who made up that environment and was replaced by some equally nice but different players. Players who are much, much more competitive. I felt like a special olympian last season. This season? A special commonwealth gamean (if that makes sense).
So, needless to say, we lost (bringing our record to 0-2-1). Hopefully next game will be a bit better. (Winning cures all, no?)

Where Has The Weekend Gone?

Pretty fast, but at least we got some stuff done. Including going to the dump and disposing of things in the garages, and fixing up the dining room table and buffet. Of course we're gonna have to go back to return three of the six chairs (wobbly suckas).
And now I have to gear up again for another week of...sigh...work

Funkytown

My mind is sorta in a funk. I dunno why, but I hope it goes away soon.
On a brighter note, we finally got our dining room table, chair and buffet. I always thought that when I had my own place, I wouldn't be Ikea people (that it was not built well, looked cheap and was "University Student Furniture"). Well, I guess things have changed.
And having a mortgage doesn't help either

Clutch (My Heart)

Because damn cars are esssssssspensive! Gotta get a new clutch for my car, and to buy a replacement part from Toyota is quite costly. Luckily I have a slush fund for normal car maintenance, but still. I'd rather use the money, on, say...food

My Recent Posts Have Sucked

No denying that. I've hit a mental/"creative" lull.
Work is getting a bit tiring, I've yet to train for my 10km run, I'm gaining weight, no renos are currently happening when they should be, no motivation...blah.
Soon I hope...soon

Sunday, April 06, 2008

Uhhh...Yeah...Next Month?

I believe my 10km run is tnext month.
So, how many times have I run 10km since last year?
Zero.
Wow...and what happened to my goal of reaching 155lbs by August? Well, it's not August yet, but I'm not well on my way.
Motivation, where are you?

Overreacting In My Mind?

I hope. Got a call from the Doctor's office again; got another appointment next week.
Got to stop letting the mind have bad thoughts. I wonder how I'll feel mentally/emotionally at this point next Tuesday. Sigh.

Seems Like A Lot Of Things Happened

Finally got my computer to start working again after moving upstairs from the basement. In the span of two days:
-went to Bioped to get molded for new orthotics. I'm geekily excited about this
-new soccer season started. My team of recreation/fun from last season turned into a team of competition with about half the roster overhauled. We're a lot better, but maybe not better. Oh, we lost. I came this close to scoring a goal...I'm not going to forget about it for a while
-went to the Doctor's office (high cholesterol again; no surprise I have the arteries of a 50-year old). I've decided to try a fish oil pill diet mixed with Metamucil, as perscribed by my workmate Andrew who also has (had) some bad cholesterol. Let's see how this one works out
-made Guacamole again. Didn't turn out so good because the avocadoes weren't completely ripe. I think I'm getting better at it
-went curling for the Region of Peel annual Health vs. Housing challenge. Fun times indeed
-am getting into the TV show "Hell's Kitchen". I think that will be the new TV show I pick up for the year, no matter how horribly realityish it is
Whew!
