Tanks Gawd Tomorrow Is Sunday, The Day Of Rest

So it was a pretty busy day today:

-woke up early cause I had to do some inspections at the Brampton Farmer's Market.  Freezing cold in the morning to the point that my fingers were numb.  But all in all, it was a good inspection day (in that there were no big problems).  I also purchased a lot of food (of course), which would just be the beginning of the eating for the day

-went to Lowes to return the extra sealer.  Spent extra time in there...my contracting juices are starting to flow again

-came home, left right away for Heartland with Bubs and bubs.  Got a bow tie for Nadal's wedding in November.  I'm just trying something out here

-went to Kim's uncle's home in Rexdale for Michael's birthday party.  It was a very nicely renovated sidesplit with what seemed to be the biggest backyard I've ever seen.  Started my renovating juices flowing even more.  They also had some of the best food ever... I mean, chicken?  Steak?  Crazy desserts?  My heart is hating me right now, but my mouth is more than happy.  Oh, also saw my Best Man there, even though it's been more than a few months (maybe even a year) since I saw the guy.  I of course just pretended and acted the same.  Life is funny sometimes

Now I'm tired.  I really should get some sleep, cause who knows what tomorrow will bring

Okay, Maybe I Took This Extreme Couponing/Hoarding Thing Too Far Today

So we ended up at Dixie Mall.

I saw my Reebok Zigtech basketball shoes onsale for $59.99 plus 25% off at the Foot Locker.  So of course...I bought two.  But at least now I don't have to buy basketball shoes for the next few years!  (Right?!?)

And then I went to Crappy Tire to get gutter protectors that were on-sale after the incident I had earlier this year (leaves blocking up the gutter).  Of course since they were on sale, I had to buy more than was necessary as I'm "thinking ahead" for when I build my shed.

Seriously, I think I have a problem.  But it was all good deals!  Really!

Lawdhavemercy if I don't save enough money for Eamon to go to University...

(dramatic much am I?)

Extreme Couponing/Hoarding

So I became one of those this morning.

But I couldn't help it!  (I could've if I didn't go like I was originally planning.  But let's not think about that).

Sharon informed me that there were "good sales" at the Walmart Anniversary sale and that he was going at 7:00am because we had to get cheap boxes of diapers.

So I went.  And saw all sorts of crazy deals!

Omega-3's on sale for less than half the price.  Boom...bought 6.

Vitamin D's on sale for less than half the price.  Boom...bought 6.

Deodorant on sale.  Boom...bought 6.

Large-sized toilet bowl cleaner on sale.  Boom...bought 2.

Batteries, chips, mouthwash, etc.

This is the part of the post where Arvin will make fun of my hoarding ways.  Yes, I did buy a lot of the same except in different colours.  I don't care!

I got problems

What Goes Around Comes Around, Teef Edition

So I went to do a pool inspection yesterday, and I met one of the managers.  She just came back from lunch, and she had food stuck in her teeth.  I found it quite humourous (I did not mention anything to her).

Today at the end of the day, I got to my car, and lo and behold, there was food stuck in my teeth. I'm pretty sure people saw it.  I find it humourous though, not embarrassing.

Am taking a writer's workshop for PHIs (mandatory as directed by Management).  They started talking about verbs/action nouns/active nouns...yeah, needless to say I was lost.  I mean, I don't ever recalling learning this in elementary/high school!

Paraphrasing what my admin clerk said (she a graduate of English from U of T):  "everyone here graduated from Ryerson.  Everyone writes crappy.  You're going to need way more than two days in a workshop to improve the writing of everyone."  Funny because it's true

What Exactly Are You Trying To Prove?

...would be what the less diligent PHIs would say.  Perhaps.

Was a crazy, crappy day which involved:  issuing a conditional pass after throwing upwards of $1000 worth of food; issued tickets to a place; closed a pool; had quasi-conversation with manager that turned me down for position ("Want to talk about the interview?" "No.  There is nothing that can be said that will make me any less upset."  Wow drama...lol).  Oh, and I had lunch at 3:45pm because of all the craziness of the day.  For serious.

That's just the way work goes sometimes.  Yet, I think that not everyone goes through the same thing I do because I'm just self-absorbed enough to think that I just care a lot more about my job than others.  Which may be true, but it begs the question:  what exactly are you trying to prove?

Indeed

Doing The Right Thing Feels Weird

So I guess my body was asking for some sleep.  I usually, you know, don't listen to my body.

Last night, I actually listened to it.  I went to bed at 9:30pm (wtf?).

I mean, I still woke up a few times, but I guess the point is that I got some rest.

I suppose getting rest also gives you some weird dreams.  The one I had last night involved having to go on a road trip with the entire family to Salt Lake City, Utah right after watching a "Legends of the WWF" wrestling match (where the wrestler, Shawn Michaels, wanted to go with us on the road trip).  Oh, and in the dream my mother caught me smoking, because apparently I'm a smoker, but my cousin Princess said it's okay because I'm on vacation.  Hmmmm....I think I should just go back to not sleeping as much

The Mistake: Reading The Comments Sections On Newspaper Sites

I've got this obsession with reading the (often bigoted and ignorant) comments section on The Star website (and the The Sun website -- I know...The Sun?  Apparently I do want to kill my brain cells).

They are discouraging me from following my aspirations towards a new career (whatever that may be) because I'm feeling like I shouldn't leave this "cushy job".  It's all "the sky is falling" while reading the comments (and articles, in the case of The Sun).

I've got to find a new hobby and I have to continue to believe in my (rather recent) dreams

Career Thoughts

Had a burst of motivation to look into career alternatives last night.  I think I don't have any choice but to go back to school.

Hope I can ride the wave to complete fruition?

This should be interesting

Google/youtube is great.  I don't know how I would ever get the lingering thoughts of "what song was that?" without these great tools

It's Been 8 Years Lola...

...I still haven't forgotten you and I never will.

I'm sorry I don't visit as much, but you're always in my heart and in my mind.

10 years ago, I was home alone with you watching the events unfold in New York City.  I'll always remember your "tsk tsk tsk" while watching the news.

These are some of the things I'll never forget on this day

Like Father Like Son...Crap

The boy will not take breastmilk from a bottle.  His face is akin to eating a lemon when he realizes what liquid is coming out of that bottle.  Then he flat out rejects it.

Then in a later attempt to patronize his father, he withdraws the liquid from the vessel, only to have it dribble out of his mouth completely.

He only wants fresh food.  He's not even six months old and he already knows what he wants?!?  Lawdhavemercy.

That's my boy

I Stopped My Boy From Growing...

...his hair.

First haircut for Eamon by Barber Arvin.  Looks good except for that one bald spot (Eamon has more than a few).  He looks older now.

As in old like a middle-aged Indian man with a bad combover.

I told Sharon I didn't want him to get a haircut yet.  Mind you, it's more than likely because of I'm way too emotional and I don't want my baby to grow up yet.

Sigh.

(holy dramatic)

Picked up the freezer this morning.  I truly am living a suburban life

*  *  *

Sealed the driveway this afternoon.  I don't know how it is going to turn out, but man, all I'm thinking now is that I want a crushed gravel driveway...lol.

(Wait, holy crap, I really AM living a suburban life.  Not that I'm surprised or anything.  I might even like it...)

Remember This Song?

Going to buy a second-hand freezer tomorrow, only to find out...my parents are looking to give away theirs.  After I already committed to buying this one.  Damn!

Seriously, these Zigtech shoes are making me win.  I'm confused with this thing which is the opposite of losing

Work Is Cramping My Time

Seriously.  I want to do so much other things, but I "waste" my time at work.  lol.

I'm happy I have a job and all, but is this all there is?  I sometimes feel like a career change is in order, but what will I do?  That's the question that's been haunting me for the past few years

*  *  *

Well that was fun.  I could do that just all the time in my dreamworld

The shoes are still making me a believer.  I wons again this morning.  Yee-uh!

Deep Freeze

Arranged a deal for a used chest freezer...yee-uh*!

Dr. Oetker?  You are going to have a new penultimate place to stay before you reach our final destination in our stomachs

Zig A Zig Ahhhhh

So I haven't won in my regular basketball games for what seems like the longest time.  This morning, I won.  The difference, it would seem?  The shoes.  The shoes?  It's gotta be the shoes!
Zigtastic

I diverged from my normal Nike purchases and during the trip to Chicago I got some Reebok Zigtech's because they were the most comfortable shoes right out of the box (no break-in necessary).  I am pleasantly -- no -- very pleasantly impressed with the performance of them.

Looks like I found the shoes I'll be purchasing in the future when this one wears down.

Yes, I believe the hype.

Yes, it was more than just likely luck that I won.

I don't care...I haven't won a lot recently.  I'm taking this one

Groggy

Shake, shake...shake it off...it's hump day already!

I Missed You Saw

My FIL asked me to cut some hardwood for him lengthwise.  I haven't used my tablesaw for a while.

I missed it.

Gotta start using my tools again...

Long Road Back To Halfway To Respectability

Went for a 5km jog.  Realized a few things are catching up to me:  the food I ate this past week, the lack of exercise, and well, my age.  Gotta get my mind straight and focus.

And back to real reality tomorrow for work.  I can do this.

Right?!?

Yikes

Well That Was A Doozy Of A Trip

Great times (for my stomach) in Chicago yet again.  Spent time with the fam, ate lots (and I mean lots) of food I shouldn't be eating every day, let alone every meal, bought a suit and a couple pairs of shoes, and it was our first trip with Eamon (who was a champ throughout it all).

Back to reality, as I always say.  But it's good to be back to reality nowadays.  Especially since reality now involves me getting my act together and getting back healthy(er).  I have a race near the end of this month, and my arteries and aortic valve is still working on forgiving me
