Fear Nothing But Fear Itself

What a crappy saying. Ever since Sharon left and I've been home alone and watching CSI, I all of a sudden have this irrational fear that an intruder is in my house and is going to kill me.
Yep.
I'm a man.
* * *
Three more days then I'm leaving...on a jet plane...to Halipacks

Melting Day Pt. 2

I'm in for a long summer.
On a brighter note, I'll be going to the Maritimes next Friday, with Sharon leaving today.
Bachelor!
(who is not really going to do anything, anyway...woo-hoo?)

First Melting Day, 2008

In other words, it's damn hot and humid again. I hate my glandular system!

Exactly one week until I'm in the Maritimes...hopefully it will be the Marigoodtimes

Take A Dive

So I'll be teaching my first Swimming Pool Operator course tomorrow.
One problem: I have no idea what I'm talking about.
Sounds about right

So When Did Life Get So Expensive?

Either that or I'm horrible at saving money.
I'm willing to bet the latter

There Goes Another One

B (or rather, just "Jay") has decided to go even further west than Dr. Sy to BC. Exciting and apprehensive times for him I'm sure.
What the frick, where the hell are all my friends going? Who said they were allowed to have a life outside of Ontario...more importantly, don't they know my wife will be doubly displeased that another one is going out West?
Regardless, good luck to him and Ives as they embark on their new phase of life. It just gives us more reason to visit Vancouver

What, I'm not going to put up this picture?

Le Whirlwind

That was a fast trip to Montreal and back:
-watching Ian and Arvin salsa, I have come to the conclusion that I will learn how this summer
-legwarmers
-Schwartz's and Simon's...the double "S" threat that makes me keep wanting to come back

Mo' Reh All

Going today...au revoir!

Bathroom Happiness

So our bathroom reno is coming quite along...and I didn't have to do a thing (well, except get broke). Can't wait for it to be completely done
* * *
Going to Montreal tomorrow for Ian's stag pt. 1 (not going to pt. 2 which involves whurres). Schwartzie's, here I come to eat you!

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Kee-YEOW

So my wife had a karate injury to her thumb.
I had a similar one once...changing the channel on the TV remote.
As a result, she can't really grasp anything with it (there's a joke somewhere in there, but for the sake of not exposing myself as a pervert, we'll just stop it right here)

Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Cut!

So another year of my "acting talents" has been completed (albeit for work). It was fun, and performing in front of 600 people always leaves me feeling somewhat accomplished. I always say "never again" but who am I kidding...I think I actually enjoy it.
* * *
Yep, it was a plumbing mistake and it's been rectified. The bathroom is coming along, and if I wasn't so dang lazy I would post all the before/after pics. We'll see.
* * *
I am starting work at York Region tomorrow. Traffic here I come

Monday, May 26, 2008

Renoriffic

So the renos for the bathroom officially started...and looks like there is a plumbing issue already. I'm sure he will rectify it by tomorrow.
Tomorrow being Staff Day at work. I somehow got myself involved with the skit again. Performing as a munchkin in front of 600 people. Seriously...

Suckatash

I hate it when my weekends are short (at least when it feels short).
Yesterday was a long day though; worked my annual overtime shift for the Water Festival and it was nutso. Still, though, it's a pretty easy way to make overtime money.
We then had our dispadeedaa party for Team Beevy. BBQ and karoke; nothing better.
More and more friends leaving...that's life I guess

Another Reminder Of Hobbes

So I just came from my parents house, where some family friends came from Calgary. My (quasi-)cousin Angel was there. She's now 14 years old. She used to be babysat by my Lola when she was three.
Hobbes used to always tackle her. She's now a dee-laa-gaa.
And to top it off, the animal shelter sent my parents a "memorial letter" of Hobbes recently.
Oh yeah, and a family friend just had a cute baby, and we were all holding her. If Hobbes was alive? Utter jealousy and would end up breaking/ripping something in our house to show her anger.

I miss my doggy.
* * *
Water Festival time tomorrow...otherwise known as easy overtime. Yee-uh

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Salamin(imum Distance: 200km)

So I went to get a new pair of glasses...in Markham.
Don't ask me why, although I think it was worth the drive because they had nice frames as opposed to the selection around here. It doesn't hurt that it turned out to be like $150 cheaper than places here.
The only problem now? I have to drive back to pick them up

Nerve-os

I swear I pinched a nerve by my left shoulder. Hurts like a heck

Hair We Go Again...

...hey, it beats a title like "Hair Today, Gone...ummm...Today".
So as you might have guessed it, 7 months of growing hair all gone in one (or dozens more) swoops of a shaver.
Feels great, if not cold (again). And now, for the attention whore-like explainin' to do tomorrow at work

Monday, May 19, 2008

Great Day Of Nothing

-Pacific Mall with Arvin. Bubble tea, fresh made noodle soup, pirated DeeBeeDees
-watched Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at home with my wife
-watched Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian at the theatres with my wife
-next thing I know, my longer-long weekend is completed. Back to reality tomorrow...sigh

Thanks Victoria, Thy Majesty

For your day. It made my long weekend even longer. Although, at this point, the question arises: almost over already?
* * *
Writing "Thy Majesty" made me think that I haven't been being a good Catholic lately. Haven't been to Church for a while.
This weeks excuse? Sharon's sick and I feel like I'm getting there. Horrible!

Saturday, May 17, 2008

Obligatory "I'm Dying" Pic:

From this year's 10km race, anyway.

Yes, people with that kind of hair run too

So That's What It's Like...

Dave and Heather and their two kids (aged 2.5 and 8 months) came over today.
I don't think our house is ready to have kids.
I don't know if we are ready to have kids.
Yet

Prismal?

So I had my eye appointment today, and I find out that I may have...a lazy eye. D'oh! Karma coming back at me (that is, all those years making fun of people blinder than me and all those years making fun of Arvin's retarded eyes). It's not that bad, but I'll know in 6 months if I need a prism prescription.
But at least I get to get a new pair of glasses...a little thicker, but what can you do?

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

Tomorrow!

It starts...the renovation on my new "luxury" master ensuite. Let's hope it turns out good

No 'Mo Drama

So the second (much less successful) season of soccer has come to a close, and how. We were moved up a notch to a more competitive division, and only ended up winning one game. On top of that, we just played the last game against a completely classless team, where a bunch of teammates of mine were close to fighting.
In other words: damn I'm glad it's over.
The game itself is fun, but that's the thing I never lose sight of: it's a game. Some people take it way too seriously. Obviously, I'm not one of them. I have a lot of other great things going on in my life.
So the next session would seem to be in the fall...let's see if I'm up for it again. Rather, let's see if they ask me to be on the team again...lol

Sunday, May 11, 2008

That Was Iron, Man

Great movie.
Can't wait for the next Batman movie

Saturday, May 10, 2008

12 Seconds?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So, if I ran all out for 13 seconds near the end of my annual Mississauga Marathon 10km race, I would've beaten the evasive 50 minute mark and gotten into the long sought-after 49 minute range. And all on NO training whatsoever! (okay, well, maybe I shouldn't be so upset. No training = best time ever. Therefore, don't ever train).
Good news: my body is not broken down like I thought it would be. I guess basketball, soccer and my improved diet is really working.
Bad news: I'll have to wait a year to try to get into the 49-minute mark.
Surprising news: I beat Arvin by six seconds! What the hell? He did profess to getting fatter in the past year (and he also did not train), so I guess it's not so much that I beat him but he beat himself. But I still crossed the finish line before him. Thus? I get the ultimate "come back" for at least the rest of the year. Score!

Goodbye, My Love

Coming To Terms

With the fact that my doggy is not gonna be here anymore.

My dog; she of the sungit variety and hardheadedness.

My dog; who refused to be like a typical dog.

My dog; who stank because she never liked to be cleaned.

My dog; the beautiful creature whose howls were the most beautiful howls I've ever heard.

My dog; she who curled up in the middle of the couch in front of dozens of people as my Lola was opening all her gifts from her 80th birthday, refusing to be left out of the party.

My dog; she who fought with any and all dogs, just because.

My dog; the one who attacked a skunk, just because.

My dog; the one who swallowed a luggage lock because she didn't want my Mom to travel to the Philippines, only to barf if up as she was leaving the door towards the airplane.

My dog; the humperer, despite the fact she was a she.

My dog; the one who never showed her love back to us (perhaps that's why we loved her even more?).

My dog; she who always became super jealous and enraged whenever one of us was holding a baby.

My dog; the socially-retarded one.

My dog; the one who we saved from an apartment-life, who was rail-thin when we got her, and who went on to live 12 happy (at least, I would think) years.

My dog...sigh...my dog

New Car!

I got a new car...well, not really. I got a new clutch, and now it feels like a new car.
I give it about another two months. Before I need to replace it again.

Procrastinate Much?

Wow...I believe this is the longest I have went without blogging (save for the times I was on vacation). Nothing much has been happening in my life, which may be the reason I'm feeling blah.
Raptors are out of the playoffs, a lot of work is to be done both at work and at home (and of course I'm not doing it because I'm tres lazy) and I'm spending money like I have it (in all fairness, I do need a new clutch for my car).
Seems like I'm in a funk again, but at least I have a new favourite word for the moment: ridonkulus.
Ridonkulus!

Friday, April 25, 2008

Screw Them!

There has been a glaring lack of recognition towards the Toronto Raptors, despite the fact they are currently entrenched in a playoff series with the Orlando Magic. The reason? I can't stand them this season. Can't really explain it except for the fact that they are maddingly inconsistant to the point it drives me mad.
Couple that with the fact my basketball hasn't won a game all season, in additon to my secondary team (Phoenix Suns) not looking good to win their season: basketball is making me cry.

Here We Grow Again

Gotta stop with the unhealthy eating again and rationalizing it with the whole "I exercise" excuse. Focus man, you gotta focus man.

Eh. It's overrated

And It's Begun...

...NBA Playoffs! That means less sleep, more angst, and feelings of sadness that I didn't get to be a professional basketball player. (So the last point is ridcurous...still...)

Forbidden Kingdom

Good movie: great action, funny parts, good storyline. And the thing that tops is all off? That's right...Chinese people talking engrish

Can't wait for the summer to roll around (minus the heat)

Only word I could come up with as I sat in a meeting with the people I work with. I hardly ever like to use that word (and mean it, that is); but, seriously...stupid people

Shine Hath Gone?

So all the fun and joy of the "beautiful game" I decided to join may be over this season. We were bumped up a notch to a higher division and the competition (that is, "prick-levelness of the opposing team") has subsequently raised as well.
Yesterday found me on the receiving end of an opposing player trying to elbow me as I was running towards the ball. Luckily I avoided it and screamed, "WHAT THE HELL? WHY YOU TRYING TO ELBOW ME?" He responded by saying "that was for the last play." The hell? (I will not resort to saying a stereotypical statement about his ethnicity. At this point, anyway).
And the ref? "Play on, nothing happened." Seriously. I could've gotten hurt.
Oh, and the fun-loving, joyful team I had from last season? Apparently we lost some key players who made up that environment and was replaced by some equally nice but different players. Players who are much, much more competitive. I felt like a special olympian last season. This season? A special commonwealth gamean (if that makes sense).
So, needless to say, we lost (bringing our record to 0-2-1). Hopefully next game will be a bit better. (Winning cures all, no?)

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Where Has The Weekend Gone?

Pretty fast, but at least we got some stuff done. Including going to the dump and disposing of things in the garages, and fixing up the dining room table and buffet. Of course we're gonna have to go back to return three of the six chairs (wobbly suckas).
And now I have to gear up again for another week of...sigh...work

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Funkytown

My mind is sorta in a funk. I dunno why, but I hope it goes away soon.
On a brighter note, we finally got our dining room table, chair and buffet. I always thought that when I had my own place, I wouldn't be Ikea people (that it was not built well, looked cheap and was "University Student Furniture"). Well, I guess things have changed.
And having a mortgage doesn't help either

Clutch (My Heart)

Because damn cars are esssssssspensive! Gotta get a new clutch for my car, and to buy a replacement part from Toyota is quite costly. Luckily I have a slush fund for normal car maintenance, but still. I'd rather use the money, on, say...food

My Recent Posts Have Sucked

No denying that. I've hit a mental/"creative" lull.
Work is getting a bit tiring, I've yet to train for my 10km run, I'm gaining weight, no renos are currently happening when they should be, no motivation...blah.
Soon I hope...soon

Sunday, April 06, 2008

Uhhh...Yeah...Next Month?

I believe my 10km run is tnext month.
So, how many times have I run 10km since last year?
Zero.
Wow...and what happened to my goal of reaching 155lbs by August? Well, it's not August yet, but I'm not well on my way.
Motivation, where are you?

Overreacting In My Mind?

I hope. Got a call from the Doctor's office again; got another appointment next week.
Got to stop letting the mind have bad thoughts. I wonder how I'll feel mentally/emotionally at this point next Tuesday. Sigh.

Seems Like A Lot Of Things Happened

Finally got my computer to start working again after moving upstairs from the basement. In the span of two days:
-went to Bioped to get molded for new orthotics. I'm geekily excited about this
-new soccer season started. My team of recreation/fun from last season turned into a team of competition with about half the roster overhauled. We're a lot better, but maybe not better. Oh, we lost. I came this close to scoring a goal...I'm not going to forget about it for a while
-went to the Doctor's office (high cholesterol again; no surprise I have the arteries of a 50-year old). I've decided to try a fish oil pill diet mixed with Metamucil, as perscribed by my workmate Andrew who also has (had) some bad cholesterol. Let's see how this one works out
-made Guacamole again. Didn't turn out so good because the avocadoes weren't completely ripe. I think I'm getting better at it
-went curling for the Region of Peel annual Health vs. Housing challenge. Fun times indeed
-am getting into the TV show "Hell's Kitchen". I think that will be the new TV show I pick up for the year, no matter how horribly realityish it is
Whew!

Jump Gingerly

Tomorrow will mark the first day since last Monday I've done any athletic activities due to my sprained ankle. How much you wanna bet that all I'll be thinking about as I run/jump is if it hurts or not? I hate having such a small threshold for pain.
Another thing I hate? My new phone. I just want an easy, user-friendly phone. Dangit!

Congrats To The Two Sweet Tree Stumps

Happy Marriage to Mikey and Marchee...it was quite the wedding. Celebrated in the only way Mikey and Marchee can

Phone Phlusters

Got the Nokia 6555 against my better judgements. Well, apparently it's a good phone, but it's against my better judgement in the sense that now I have to learn a whole new phone.
And I don't seem to have the patience for that. It's already getting me annoyed. Argh
* * *
Wedding time tomorrow...Lil' Mikey and Marchee are getting hitched

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Ching-Ching-Ching

Overtime for the first time in a while...and all it took was talking in front of 95 people and having your PowerPoint not working. Oh well, I gotz some money, dollah-dollah-bill-yall! (And straight to the renovation is goes)

Here Comes Another One

Let's see how expensive this guy will be

* * *

I want one of these dogs:
I wonder what the toy would be
The picture above is highly exaggerated. Apparently Great Danes are Great with Children (NO...NO CHILDREN FOR US YET) and are lovable dogs. Plus I always wanted a dog I would be able to ride like a mini-horse. I'm so excited...I'm working on getting my wife on the same page.
Now I have to think of names (first things first, of course)

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Double Whammy

So we won our first game, got to the Championship game. Half-time, we were up 2-0. End of the game? We were down 4-2.

And to top it off? I got a bad ankle sprain. Sucks! For the wedding I'm going to on Saturday, I think I'll be dancing a la
Lisa Turtle

Monday, March 24, 2008

Championship Time!

It's playoff's for my soccer league, and we are in the hunt for the Championship. If we win our first game tonight at 9:15pm, we have to play the second, Championship game at 10:45pm.
So really, it's kinda like...I'm not sure whether or not I want to win. On the one hand, if we lose I don't have to kill myself playing another game. If we win, then it would be nice to play for the Championship. Which, really, doesn't entail much but bragging rights.
So, ummm...why exactly am I going to try?
We're gonna be shorthanded tonight anyway, so the winning prospects don't look so good

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Ohoh...Here We Go Again

Overeating. I'll just chalk it up to the Easter Holiday's, but after being (relatively) good for the past few months, I see myself slipping.
Time to focus and concentrate again...

Saturday, March 22, 2008

Finally?

Basement paint...done(-ish...we still have the bathroom to go). Could it be that we're really, really close to the end of painting? Dear gosh I hope

I would totally imagine the latest guy to come in to be up there in price

It better be a nice bathroom

Plan B

Had a good convo with a good friend from work today. Am sad that she is not able to get what she wants right now...hopefully she will soon. I know when it's our time, I sure as heck wouldn't want it as complicated as it is for her

Sunday, March 16, 2008

Exactly What Did I Get Myself Into?

Looks like this bathroom renovation is going to be a lot more complicated than I thought. I shouldn't be that surprised though...yikes

Still Damn Good

Thank you East Side Mario's for clogging up my arteries a bit more. But the steak was worth it.

Albeit a day late, thus concludes another successful S n' S Day for the year

Friday, March 14, 2008

Modified S n' S Day

So maybe that's why I was feeling out of it today. Today is S n' S day, but it being Lent and it falling on a Meatless Friday, I have to forego at least one "S" (the other "S" I might need some help on). Hopefully I'll get to celebrate it tomorrow properly, because making one of the "S' stand for "Salmon" just doesn't cut it.

That's right, pictures are gone again

Hanging With Neens

Well, more like lecturing her. That's what friends are for?

Damn you Youtube, damn you.
And damn you Filipinos because now the dance will be in my mind too. Gayness

Runrunrunrunrun...

...I gotta keep on running if I want to score again. Luckily my soccer team won again. I could've scored another goal, but I missed on two good occasions. Soon enough. I hope.
Went to Swiss Chalet after words with Team Tabico...good peeps they are. One of our "couple friends." Apparently that's what you do when you get married

What's Outside Your Window?

I'm a fan of winter. I like it, I really do.

This winter has been something else though:

I don't recall it ever snowing this much in one winter in my life (and all the news stories confirm it). The only thing I don't like? Shovelling.

(Yep...pictures are back!)

Pork Bone Soup N' The Guys

Went to Eastgate last night and met up with the (remaining) boys left in Mississauga. The pork bone soup was okay, not as good as I thought it would be. I'll just stick with the bibimbop next time.

As for the guys, BJ summed it up succinctly: "We're getting old. We should plan to meet at least once a month though."

Indeed. (Of course it will be left to me to plan it though, cause God knows my friends are horrible at planning things)

Harder Than Soccer

So I found something even harder than soccer: playing soccer in front of your wife! I tried to hard to impress her, but am mighty glad she came to watch. According to her (and I agree), we don't spend enough time together. After her seeing me flail my arms like a fairy, I'm gonna wonder exactly how much more time she's gonna wanna spend with me.
But whatever; as for the game, we won again! A well played game and we barely scraped by with a final count of 2-1. It would've been a draw if not for the other team scoring on their own net. The next two weeks rounds out the schedule; and I just signed up for the next session.
Easy there, soccer

What Time Is It?

Haven't done that in years...
slept 12 hrs. Woah

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Arghhhhh....Harghyyyyyyy Harrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That's right, I became a curling pirate during my PHI curling bonspiel. I think curling is something I may take up in the future.
Fun times with my Peel Peeps and my team (Shain, Kat and Andre), where we won one game and lost two. And the "social night" the day before (which ended with us only sleep 2.5 hours before we had to curl) was fun too, where we ended up playing "coasters 'n panties" for hours.
Basically, we had to flick a coaster into a hanging panty across the room. If it stayed in the panty, you would be deemed party of the "pussy club." I was the last male to join the club, and it was quite the celebration.
(ummm...this sort of game is much funner when your fellow contestants are plastered and you play it with some strangers. Trust me on this)
Anywho, hopefully I get to do this again next year. But for now...damn, I'm tired

Thursday, February 28, 2008

Halifax Here We Come!

Thanks to WestJet and their insane seat sales ($160 for a roundtrip?!?), we'll be going from June 13-23. Woah

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

Breadmaker

I will foray into the world of breakmaking today.
(Of course, it's pizza dough we bought at the grocery store, but that's besides the point)

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

Slow Soft!

That would be the anti-chant for my curling team. So I went curling with some folks at work to practice for the annual Health Inspector Curling Bonspiel in Guelph this weekend.
Curling is fun, and even funner when you have a fun team. Oh heck we ain't gonna win anything, but I'm sure it'll be fun. Funfunfun!
Then we went to Beaver n' Bulldog for wings. Good times

Goaaaallllllllll!!!!!

Scoring a goal in my soccer league is much like scoring 10 pts. in my basketball league. It's thrilling, a great individual achievement, an absolute high, but...
...much like my basketball league, my team ended up losing the game. D'oh! There goes the unbeaten streak.
In all fairness, they were the number one team and they had been playing with each other for years. And my goal was an absolute gimme. And I should've scored at the very least one more time but I screwed up my other chance. You may think I'm being hard on myself, but I expect more from me.
And I'm getting more and more motivated to lose the 9 lbs. by August.
Gogogogogogogogogogogo....

Monday, February 25, 2008

Work Time!

Here I go again...lots o' work to do
* * *
Sorry for the lack of imaginative posts lately and the real lack of pictures. Lazy/busy much

Saturday, February 23, 2008

Okay, So We Keep Losing

So my basketball team sucks...I shouldn't care too much, right? It's just supposed to be all about exercising, right?
I think that elusive first win would satisfy me. Talk about having high goals! (I did score 10 pts. in a losing cause, but it's a "team game". Apparently)

Friday, February 22, 2008

CoughCough

wink
* * *
I'm a lifelong Raptors fan. I've been a fan since the very beginning. I've watched horrible, horrible teams and season, and my fandom has not wavered.
Why, then, is this season perhaps the most irritating and frustrating one I've watched thus far? It's not like they have a losing record or anything. I think it's because since last year, I've had these expectations that they would be doing better this year. Or maybe the fact that I know that the team they have right now will not be going anywhere (they aren't built to win).
Blah.
(Mind you, this rant prolly wouldn't have happened if they hadn't lost to the New York Frikin' Knicks today)

Well, That Was Original

Went to Original's for the first time in a long time with Sharon and Arvin. While the wings might've changed (not "amazing" anymore, just "good"), still a good time.
Of course, it gets me further away from my goal of 155. Oops

155

I am 73% committed right now as a goal for the tentative end of August.
Gotta find that other 27% somewhere...

Happy Family Daying

Great holiday this is; I always wanted a stat holiday in February. So what did I do?
Four hours of ironing!
* * *
My soccer team is as good as a highway. 4-0-1!
We won 3-0, and I set up a goal. Of course I'd feel a bit happier if I actually converted my three chances today. Oh well (which really means "argh")

Cross-Border Shoppin' And...

...it wasn't the best experience.

First, the good:
-got two pairs of pants for work for pretty cheap
-bought different flavour Doritos that they don't have here in Canada

But, the bad:
-excitedly went to The Olive Garden for lunch. Service sucked, the food wasn't that great, and really, it was a little expensive. Basically, we should've went to the Cheesecake Factory, Mighty Taco, or Ponderosa
-the weather sucked, which made the drive gloomy
-went to Walden Galleria. Didn't buy anything
-what normally would've taken about 20 minutes to get from the Walden Galleria mall to the Fashion Outlet Mall took about 2 hours. Every single turn where I had to pick between left or right, east or west, north or south...I got wrong. On top ot that, the address and directions I got for the Outlet Mall were beyond wrong; it turned out to be on the complete other side of town! It was frustrating, most of all for Sharon who was driving
-the great deals I was semi-hoping for never really surfaced
-Buffalo is a depressing place. Something about it; everytime I go there, it's raining and gloomy, and the ambience in general is pretty depressing to me. And the locals? Yikes...

So, would I go back? Perhaps. But not anytime soon (well until at least after Lent, so Sharon can eat a dessert at the Cheesecake Factory).
I think I've also changed...before, I would buy things for the heck of it. But nowadays, I don't feel like shopping just to shop. Am I getting older?
(Maybe just cheaper. Hello? Mortgage!)

Buffalo!

Hopefully, with weather pending

Nothing!

Romantic, I know.

Bone-Chilling

My body is on the fritz lately. That, or it's just crazy cold.
This is turning out to be quite the winter. In an odd way, I like it

Soccer game was cancelled last night. Boooooo

Two-A-Days

I'm trying out this whole exercise thing on Monday a new way: basketball in the morning, soccer at night. So far my body is holding up. Although we'll see tomorrow, what with our late night game tonight (11:15pm). I did it last week; hopefully I can do it again this week. I am, however, teaching tomorrow morning. Good luck to those students!

At Least We're Consistent

Another loss in basketball! This time we lost by 25. It would've been by 38 if I didn't score 13 points.
Despite all this losing, I'm still enjoying myself. I think.
* * *
My wife amuses me. Case in point: to measure how much meat in weight to put into a recipe, she first weighs herself on a scale. Then she carries the meat and goes back on the scale.
According to her, it doesn't work.
According to me, it's typically my wife.

After 1000 Games...

...I'm still conditioned to think the Raps are going to lose. And to no ones surprise, tonight -- they did.
Out of the 1000 games they played in the course of their franchise history, I believe I watched at least 910. I think that's a good ratio, if not a long, frustrating time.
It's really tough being a Raps fan. But I'll be around for another 1000 games.

As Always, Life Gets In The Way

Tabico's dad fell ill the past few days, so the New York New York trip may be a no-go. In the big scheme of things and keeping it in perspective, I'm not even the slightest bit upset about it. I'm just hoping his dad makes it through.

* * *

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people could be when it comes to driving after a snowstorm. Case in point:
This numbnuts didn't wipe off the snow from the sides of his van and was driving like a madman. Times like that makes me wish, as bad as it seems, that he would get into an accident.
(And yes, I realize the hypocracy of not being safe of driving in this weather and taking a picture. BUT...I needed to prove a point. Do as I say, not do as I do)
This guy has the right idea. I also found it somewhat amusing:
I said SOMEWHAT... I know it's not that funny

Exceeding Some Expectations

So I had my annual review at work today, and according to my Supervisory staff, they believe that I am "Exceeding Some Expectations" overall (on a scale of "Meets Below Expecatations" to "Meets Expectations" to "Exceeds Some Expectations" to "Exceeds Most Expectations" to "Excellence"). Which got me thinking: if I somehow trick them into not expecting anything from me at all, and I do just a little bit of work, wouldn't that mean that I "Exceed Most Expectations"? And to extend that thought, if I do a little more than a little more work, would that means I get to "Excellence"?
Not that I'm complaining; I'm satisfied with thinking I'm a little above average (I think most people just "Meets Expectations", which I got my first year that made me really, really angry back then). I've come to expect that in the government, you are rarely noticed for your work, unless, of course, you screw up. And I figure that the less I do each year, the less they expect from me, which in turn when I actually do work hard (like this past year), they would be plesantly surprised. Okay, that last sentence was a lie (I've always been hardworking and always trying hard, despite me saying otherwise).
It really comes down to the fact that the better on the scale I do, the more of a raise I get. But I figure I'm going to reach the top of my payscale by next year, so really, it doesn't matter if it's a 3% raise or a 7% raise (trust me on this).
We'll see how hard I try this year

Well, It's Not A Loss...

...but it's also not a win. My soccer team went the way of the Patriots and our perfect season came to an end (okay, so we went 3-0 before we had a draw as opposed to 18-0, but still).
I didn't get a chance to shoot. Okay, I lie, I did have a chance but missed the damn ball. I'm kinda upset with myself, but I think I made a few good plays. Which means squat of course if there's no results, but I have to hype myself up somehow.
And to top it off? These 11:15pm games are totally gonna screw me up. I bet I won't go to bed until at least 2:00-3:00am. Luckily I don't need a lot of sleep to function.
* * *
Finally our government has done something somewhat good for us in the short term: Family Day weekend in February. Tentative plans with Tabico and Mel to go to New York New York are in the works...

Rebozo's Is Reyummy

So Sharon and I ended up in Toronto looking for furniture and the likes, when we conveniently ended up near a Mexican restaurant, Rebozo's. For some reason, my favourite cuisine has always been Mexican. So putting one and one together, we ended up eating there.
Dang good stuff:

Mouth...watering...right...now...
Shout out to Rowena for suggesting the spot. The ghettoness of the joint made it all the much more better.
* * *
And the streak continues...we lost our basketball game today. The only difference is, we lost by three points. Much better than our usual 20 point drubbings.
I was mighty pissed off in the second half cause I only got to play like five minutes, to the point I shouted at my teammates. On top of that, I was also really mad at myself for not playing better (too many missed layups). I have to start playing smarter and better, and control my temper and emotions better. It's only a game, I suppose.
At least I have soccer to look forward to (I hope I didn't just jinx myself and the team)

Welcome To Canada

Well, it's February. Which only means we were meant for some of this:
That would be snow
I wrote in one of my previous posts how I was so intrigued by the big machinery that cleared the snow from my neighbourhood. Being the geek that I am, I took a couple of shots, trying my hardest to be discreet so the operator didn't, you know, be suspicious or anything and run me over:

This neighbourhood is so unique to me. Sure all the trucks idling and the physical snow removal add to atmospheric pollution (don't feel like any global warming to me at this moment right now anyhow), but dang, it's a departure from my old neighbourhood.
I think I love living here...almost can't wait for the springtime so we could start working on the outside of the house. (Oh yeah, and so that I don't have to shovel anymore)

Chair Me

For work, I think I'd want this chair: cumportabull! And of course it's not only meant for, ummm...work...ummm....

Imbeciles

It's really hard to appreciate and enjoy work when you work with some people that are irritating and idiots. I may be one of them to some, but not as much as some of them are to me.
Went to Ryerson today, and was genuinely excited and looking forward to the event. I was gonna be a "rep" for Peel and have the memories. Well, a bunch of things happened that made me sour:
-I wore the vest that Peel employees are supposed to wear when at special events. The other three? Nope. And not only that, two of them were Supervisors and the other girl is one of the few ones I don't like at work. And then they pointed and laughed at the fact I was wearing it, saying this was not a special event. Hey, way to not embarass me!
-one of the Supervisors told me information to tell the students. It was wrong information. When I came back from break, they pointed out (in front of all the potential applicants, no doubt) that I was giving wrong information. And of course he didn't fess up to the mistake. Hey, way to not embarass me!
-I went back to the office and through the advice of one of my co-workers, told me to tell my Supervisor and Manager, as word of my "misinformation" may be transmitted incorrectly, making me look incompetent. I did. And I felt like a snitch. Hey, way to not embarass me! (okay, the last one was my decision, but still)
Argh. Days like this I feel burnt out and wonder why I have to work with the people I do.
Sigh.

What Do You Look At When You Pee?

Well, if you were a guy and you used my powder room, you would be looking at this:

He makes sure you wash your hands
Then you would promptly be possessed.
