Wedding Regist-argh-y

Looking at stuff for our HBC registry is pretty tough. Sharon and I have differing opinions (such as style, colour, and actually what to get). And it's also hard choosing what to get for a house we don't even have yet. And it's tripley hard to decide what to get when I have this thing for matching brands. I'm neurotic like that, don't ask me why.
All of a sudden, that "monetary gifts preferred" statement on our invitations doesn't sound so bad. Actually, it does, but dammit, we are so determined not to have an elaborate registry (the perk of buying it at a reduced price if no one gets it for us is, however, quite tempting). We'll see...

Our registry was a great source of stress for us. Once you get into it though it's not too bad. Just make a list of things every new house will need and go from there. Do it in small trips so as not to overwhelm yourself. Don't use their crazy lists. I found the Bay to be pushy about us needing things we really didn't (they practically forced luggage upon us, when we didn't want any).

Also remember that it will really help out your guests who may not know you well enough give a gift. This way it's dummy-proof... they already know you want it. And you will find that most of the gifts get bought up for the bride's shower, so pick lots of things in the lower price range for that event (I will get invited, right????).

PS. It's 10% off, and an additional 10% if you get an HBC rewards card on the day you complete your registry. Not the greatest system... hence why we haven't completed ours yet. You actually can get a better deal sometimes if you just wait for your items to go on sale the regular way.

They forced stuff upon you? Sucks...they just gave us a scanner and we scanned to our (stressed) heart's delight. Mind you it's not that bad.

And if Sharon had a shower, I'm sure you'd be invited (kinky). Honestly, we are not putting much stuff on the registry that way the whole "monetary gifts preferred" thing may be more highlighted (wow, that's unbelievably bad...haha). But then again with Filipinos and Indians you never know.

Oh yeah, and they told us about the percentage off thing; one good thing is that the best sale price since you scanned it would be the price; thus we're scanning the expensive stuff just in case.

In the end, even if no one gets stuff for us from our registry, it's all good.
